    !967 Case 580 CK

I don't know if these machines have different drive systems or they are all the same. When I start this machine and put in first gear I push the clutch in and watch the clutch pressure decline to zero before it is put in gear. Now it no longer goes to zero pressure. The needle stops about 3/4...

    Stuck brake drums

This has been sitting maybe long enough so the shoes are swelled up so tight they won't free up without breaking.

    Stuck brake drums

The brakes are electric. I have Pounded on drums with a small, maybe 4 pound hammer. I was thinking too big and too hard a hit might break the drums. I will try backing off the bearings and a little harder hits. I am interested in the one way or another method. Currently I have one side of this...

    Case 580 CK steering problem

I posted the same message on a different forum a man there gave his thoughts and was correct. The rod I had made by a Hydraulic shop, the threads that hold the piston on were too small a diameter. So the piston came off after four turns when the wheels were on the ground.

    Stuck brake drums

I have an older tri axel trailer that was used to haul a 580 CK case backhoe. Haven't got a clue of the axel manufacturer. They appear to be really heavy duty axels. The trailer sat for quite awhile because I only used the hoe on my property. The brake drums are stuck to the shoes. Is there any...

    Case 580 CK steering problem

I have a Case 580 CK, serial number says it falls into 1966 to 1970. I rebuilt the steering cylinders. Had to have one rod made because Case said they are no longer available. Put the cylinders on filled the pump with oil ran the tractor a little and turned steering wheel a little and shut it...

    Two speed rear axel

I have not seen the truck yet. The seller was busy today, tomorrow Saturday is opening Wisconsin deer hunting so he is hunting tomorrow and longer till he gets his deer. I am hoping to look at the truck Tuesday. I was wanting to find out how complicated it is to fix. how to determine where the...

    Two speed rear axel

I am in the process of buying a 1988 Ford F800. The two speed axel is in the low speed and will not shift out of it. I know there is a switch on the shifter stick that is supposed to change from high to low and vice a versa. What makes things not work. Is the problem in the axel or is it...

    1972 580ck brakes

Thats not that bad of a job the two bolts that have a nut on the end. You have to remove the bolt from the tractor then you can wiggle the piece out of there. the rod that goes into the housing just needs the two nuts taken off the end so that comes out all in one piece. What I tried to explain...

1970 Case 580 CK water pump

Tinkerer, you are most likely right, I just feel what they want for a paper manual is a lot of money. I do not like the CD version. I am wanting to get this pump on in the next couple of days. It looks like I will need to pull the radiator because there is not room on a Diesel to get the fan...

    1972 580ck brakes

I would bet the discs in the left side is stuck to the brake housing. Mine freezes up every winter lately, did not used to do that. When you take the brake housing off, take all the bolts out except the one that just about lines up with the center of the rear axle. then you should be able to get...

1970 Case 580 CK water pump

The water pump on the tractor is leaking and needs to be replaced or rebuilt. I took off the hood and the front grill to see what I am in for. The radiator will have to come out and there is hydraulic lines going into the bottom of the radiator. Or are they lines from the transmission???? I will...

Case 580 ck brakes on the way

I was in the middle of putting my breaks back together, so I removed the housings again and now remember the springs towards the front of the housings, they have a metal plug to hold them in the housings. I remember now putting in new springs and plugs to hold them in. When I messed up putting...

Case 580 ck brakes on the way

I have a 1970 or so ck that I did brakes on a few years ago. I think from Case it cost roughly $400.00. The first springs you mentioned I don't remember my machine having them the springs that hold the discs together are a little bit of a challenge to hook them up. The seals are a real challenge...
