    Lost lift ability

if the hydraulic filter is on the suction side of the pump, and it mounted above the level of the pump and the hyd. tank, it can be a pain when they lose their prime. Usually this happened after replacing the hydraulic filter after a service, but running out of fluid might have the same affect...

    Sullair under speed problem

I've seen that same thing on a Sullair 375, it was the alternator. The tach/speed signal comes from the alternator on most mechanical diesels. The engine is a Cat (not a Perkins, a real Cat)

    Ford LSG423

The LRG423 was a 2300cc engine based on the engine commonly in various Ford cars thru the 70's and 80's. See the list of vehicles in the posts above. Everything built 1975 and later was electronic ignition. (no points) The distributor from any one of those engines should work for you. Jobber...

    Genie Z45/25 boom lubrication

I remember when we saw our first Genie. We all stood around and laughed at the non-greaseable "plastic" bushings on all the pins. We were all pretty experienced at replacing pins and bronze bushings on the old JLG's, and we could not imagine how plastic was going to last longer than a month...

    Genie Z45/25 boom lubrication

Grease attracts/holds dirt and sand, which make things worse over time. I believe they were made to be left dry.

    HYSTER H 3.50XL

probably an electric shift transmission. Try and locate the shift solenoids (coils) on the transmission. swap coils and see if your problem changes direction.

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

This is a solenoid valve, but the parts are quite similar. Might help

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Here's the part numbers to go with the diagram you posted. I don't see a spring in yours - ref. #20 I don't see a ball - ref. #26 If that picture of the valve I posted is the same as the one you're working on, I have a new one.

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

The picture you put up is what I would call a Racine Dump Valve.

JLG 40ha drive motor engaging with foot switch

Sounds like a controller problem alright. the controller is a plug-in, right? not individual wires? Strange still that the brakes aren't coming off. Try taking a wire off the high drive toggle switch, and see if that stops the problem.

    slow fork drop

Is it cold there yet? I was thinking lighter/better hydraulic oil. When it gets too thick, forks don't come down anymore.

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Do know what I mean when I say the lift cylinder's lower pin is secured by something that looks like a main bearing cap on an engine block? It is. The nuts are under the chassis, 4 of them. have you undone those nuts? pounded the bolts up with a dead-blow hammer to loosen the caps?

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

What drawings are you looking for? Wiring Schematic? Racine or Bertea valves? type of controllers? do you have the 40F manuals yet?
