    580K phase 3 charging issues

Ok, following mg2361’s instructions, I checked voltage across the battery terminals, and the meter showed 10.20V. Measuring across the starter showed 9.75V.

    580K phase 3 charging issues

Sorry I haven’t replied back, but I have to find a multimeter that measures DC current, so I can check the current draw of the starter.

    580K phase 3 charging issues

I checked the voltage of my pickup, and it read 12.6 at rest. The battery in the backhoe is a little over 5 years old. 11/13. As far as 50 amps charging, I just assumed that because the battery took suck a beating trying to start the backhoe, that’s what it was drawing from the alternator to...

    580K phase 3 charging issues

This it the reading on my battery at rest. I’ve cleaned every cable end, bolt, stud, to and from the battery, starter, and alternator. It seems to crank better, but I don’t think it has the cranking power it should. Could the starter be creating a lot of resistance? The starter seems fine ( no...

    580K phase 3 charging issues

My 1990 580K P3 has charging issues. It seems slow to crank, and as of recently needs a jump start to help it out. Using a multi-meter, the battery reads 13.16 Volts when not running, and 14.08 when running. So, I think the battery is fine. I use a gauge on the alternator that shows about 50...

Case 580K ball joint thread size

This is the articulation end, that screws into the steering rod. It actually unscrewed itself while I was using the machine. The thread at the end of the stud is boogered up, and I want to fix it so I can screw it back in. I have a nut that is 7/8-14 thread size. It tried to screw it on, and it...

Is this the proper way to install front motor mounts on a 580K phase 3?

Is this the proper way to install this front motor mount? Also, if this is the way, I'm assuming this is the correct orientation of the mount?

    Case 580K hydraulic issues

Turns out that the hydraulic pump was worn out. I guess after 26 years, the pump had enough.

580K hose from hydraulic tank to pump.

I need to replace the 6 inch hose that runs from the hydraulic tank to the pump. Case says its discontinued. Can I just use a 1.5" ID piece of hydraulic hose instead? Thanks. John.

Can damaged JIC fitting threads be fixed/rethreaded?

I put a new hydraulic pump in my 580K. Everything went well, until I was reinstalling the lines to the oil cooler, and one of the lines started to cross thread. Is it possible to repair the damaged threads on the fitting with a rethreading die? Or can the old fitting be removed, and a new one be...
