How To Change & Tube Backhoe & Tractor Tires

Looks like I didn't save the pics. The date code area looked like it was ground off precision with a milling machine. It even conformed to the curvature of the tire. Way back in the day I saw some recall tires and dealers were instructed to cut the sidewalls so there was no chance they could be...

How To Change & Tube Backhoe & Tractor Tires

When I had one of mine replaced the guy pulled the wheel and had me break the bead with the heel of the backhoe bucket. He installed a tube and the next day it was flat. When he pulled the tube back out the rubber at the valve was separated. He put it back on tubeless. That was a circus to...

    What's your hoe doing?

My John Deere tractors have these instead of glow plugs. My 4310 has to be activated manually with the key. My old 855 had a temperature sensor and timer that turned it on automatic if it senses the temp was under 60f.

New holland 555 serial number location

Your serial number is lower than mine and according to the guy I emailed at Alma Tractor in Arkansas mine was built April 16, 1998 and went in service on January 4, 1999. I think any New Holland Dealer can access that info with your serial number. The guy I emailed at Alma Tractor was awesome...

    How to operate/control

^^ true that ^^ I never sat in a backhoe till I owned one. Bought mine off eBay and had it shipped to me. Ended up having to fix on it for a month before it was usable. NOT "ready to work" as advertised.

    How to operate/control

Backhoes aren't super complicated to learn. You just have to figure out which movement of the controls do what and practice. Different year models and makes will have different controls. The newer hoes may have joysticks as opposed to levers. Some older machines may have 4 levers and some have...

Ford 555E Hard to Start - Fix Video

Single battery ground shows 2 braided cables connected at the frame. One goes to starter and the other goes to the cutout switch. When I replaced mine I just attached the new longer ground cable at the starter and reused the original braided cable going to the frame. FYI, for those switching...

Ford 555E Hard to Start - Fix Video

It's been a while but seems it had a cable from the battery to the cutoff switch. On the other post of the switch it had a cable to the starter ground post and a braided cable to the frame. I'm not on my PC but looking up the parts might shed some light on it.

Ford 555E Hard to Start - Fix Video

Can't go wrong using heavier cable. I used 2/0 on mine and it looks to be the same gauge I removed. My old positive cable is a little over 5 ft long. The negatives were 5 ft and 2 ft. I removed my cut off switch and went direct from battery to starter. The short cable from the switch reached...

    555e Backhoe Cylinder Identification

If you read through the thread I posted on my reseal, Swetz and I both shared some dimensions and part numbers that may help. Hopefully your gland will match his for the wiper seal and wear bearing. If it does the kit I got most of my parts out of should be complete for your reseal.

    555e Backhoe Cylinder Identification

Here are some screen shots from a early manual I bought off eBay. The BSN note is "Before Serial Number" being the serial number on the right side of the machine frame. Not the cylinder or backhoe frame.
