    Your Lowboy Pictures Wanted

The rails got pulled off and used for a set of doubles to try and get an even lighter setup. It's now just a bare truck parked in the yard right beside that bubble nose. Neither one of them run at the moment, but my goal is to get that bubble nose back on the road and recreate that picture...

    Your Lowboy Pictures Wanted

It's a lumber truck, no bed means less weight and more payload capacity. Those cross pieces that the load sit on are actually chunks of aluminum frame rail from another truck. That truck also has an aluminum frame and cab, the tare weight on it with full fuel tanks was only 18,000 pounds

I guess while I'm at it, I should show my favorite lowbed picture. This is my grandpa's 1953 bubble nose Pete hauling his 1968 rail truck on his 1946 Pierce lowbed. He still has both of the trucks in this picture parked side by side at his house.

The hate I had to go in was a little tighter than the bridge, I rubbed on both sides, but everything was still standing after I got through

    Your Lowboy Pictures Wanted

The bridge is rated for 200,000 pounds, I should have been right at 110,000 with that load. We've crossed that bridge with every different machine you can imagine and it's always tight. We actually had some 2x4's laying on the deck under that undercarriage to raise it up a bit, and there are...

Service truck crane. Curb side vs street side? Knuckleboom vs stiff boom ?

Mine is a manlift/crane combo boom, so like most manlifts it is center mounted. It has nowhere near the capacity of a dedicated crane, but is plenty for what I need to do. My only complaint about it is that it is not a continuous rotation, and it stops 90 degrees out to the passenger side...

    Field service guys.

A lot of good advice here, but as someone that world alone a lot I will add to keep your cell phone charged and on you! I learned the importance of that one first hand and now try to always make sure I have it on me while working. Also, don't drop it out of your shirt pocket and into a pond...

ATTN Field Mechanics, would you swap a service truck for enclosed trailer?

When I first started out on my own, I built a 5x10 trailer and pulled it around with my Jeep. I was crowded for space, and it was bit on the heavy side, but I always seemed to have what I needed to get the job done. Now, I have an F-450 service truck with a 34' manlift/crane combo...

Lets see your "ultimate" service truck!

I do mainly welding repair work and have been slowly working my way up in the service truck world. I started out with my welder and gear piled in the back of my jeep, when I needed more room for tools and parts I would just hook my little camp trailer to the back. That setup got me by for a...

    Would You Haul it ??

How about this guy, he rolled into the new winery job site with roofing sheets that go under solar panels and one strap on the whole load, the job boss was not happy...
