    M983A4 Wrecker

Don't know much about the wrecker myself, but... It sounds like a spool valve issue, like the pilot seals are bleeding by. That said, you said you replaced the valve. Does this have failsafe type solenoids on the rams? If so, I'd check the wiring, and for activation. Usually an air pocket will...

1999 GMC 2500 pickup electrical problem

I don't have the diagrams, but if you get to pulling your hair out, here's one for you: The underhood fuse box has all the wiring coming in the bottom. They all go into 4 different bulkhead type plugs, attached to the bottom of the fuse box. IIRC, the middle one has all the wires that power up...

    2005 International 4300 Electrical gremlin

I just recently had a situation like this on Cummins chassis. All the right relays clicked when they should have. Pulled all relays and tested them even. At my wits end, probed the output of the ECM power circuits directly out of the fuse box...no feed. Pulled the relay out just a hair, and I...

    12E With D333...Got Some Problems

Well, I always have my Leatherman:D And yep, only number 5 rod took to rolling. The motor had been apart, and looked like someone "rebuilt" it. Hard to tell now, but I kind of wonder if that journal was a bit undersized from them filing it. The rear main looked like someone whizzy-wheeled it...

    12E With D333...Got Some Problems

Well, some grader updates. Got the buttoned back up, and barred over easily. Forwards, backwards and multiple revolutions. Still hadn't found a smoking gun though. Owner said to throw some batteries at it, and hit the switch. So I did... Half a rotation, stuck. Well damn. Popped the starter off...

    12E With D333...Got Some Problems

I think it's a 94 or 95? It has a CAT 3406 I believe...only been under it to mess with the PTO. Starts right up, so no reason to tip the hood:D It has an LL 10spd behind it. The only crew cabs I've seen were like this one, railroad service. I don't know if they were only out west or not. Set up...

    12E With D333...Got Some Problems

Well darn! Gear train looked perfect. There was an interesting development though. It was "stuck". Rolling the motor backwards, I'd turn the crank 90 degrees, go under and inspect. Rinse and repeat, until I came up on one rotation. I expected it to stop again...it did not:oops: So, I figured it...

    12E With D333...Got Some Problems

Sadly it's not mine. The guy that owns the grader has this as a spare. It's a Ford crew cab that had been a railroad rig. A few months ago he had me get the PTO figured out, and put together the hoist. It looks like the previous owner had sheared the shaft. I got new bearings, races and even new...

    12E With D333...Got Some Problems

yes and no. Pulled the pto shaft from the gear box, and it spun the worm and pump easily. Be back at it Friday. Dropping the pan again, and going to pull the starter and back down the motor. Use a bore scope maybe and see if any issues in the front gear train. I haven't found any exploded views...

    Stuck injector washer

On stuck injector washers, I've been using gun brushes and solvent. Try to remove what carbon you can, use a slotted screw driver and tap while twisting. Then use a barrel brush that pushes into the washer and lube with solvent. I keep a Hoppes Kit from Walmart in my box for them now.

    12E With D333...Got Some Problems

Something to look at, but it had a few hours of run time when this guy bought it. They said it had a knock to it the whole time though...so it seems a bit weird to have even run (until the final clunk) When I had the starter out, I looked in the clutch housing. Hoping to see a weight or...

    12E With D333...Got Some Problems

I'm kind of new to older diesel stuff. I work on a lot of odd, orphaned stuff from time to time. This one is a customers, and here's what I "know": It was running along, though knocking a bit. Suddenly, a much louder bang, and the motor stopped. It was stuck, 24v wouldn't turn it. It was pushed...

New Here, But Always Messing With Tools And Equipment

As the title says, new here. I've read things on this site before, and always seemed to be a lot of information floating around. I, like a lot of people, use the internet like we used to use encyclopedias or the Chilton's Guides. Well, since I found myself here a few times the last couple weeks...
