    Demo using excavator

A 4-ton is big enough for small building demolition: mobile homes, backyard sheds, outbuildings, some detached garages, single story homes with low pitch roofs etc. Any building taller than maybe 10-12' at the peak is asking for trouble unless you are a very skilled operator. As for the rubber...

    480e hydraulics

Yes, they are on the inboard side of the tank.

Spec creep and the disappearance of the 10-12 ton class excavators

That's an example of good machine placement, if the truck/trailer/machine are all sized properly I find that to be the right spot regardless of if it's a pickup with a 3.5-ton, a medium duty with a 6-ton, or a tandem with a larger machine.

Spec creep and the disappearance of the 10-12 ton class excavators

It's easy to spot the guys without enough truck by the way they load the machine, such as in that last pic. I always load with the blade to the front, house/stick pointing to the back, and generally pull the machine forward until the drive planetaries are centered between the trailer axles...

Grasshopper 725 G2. Kubota gas engine problem.

I too would suggest looking into the fuel shut-off solenoid. They can be problematic and cause a whole host of unusual issues. I recently went round and round with one on the 25hp Kohler on my new sawmill, only 14hrs and it started failing, why I do not know. I do know they are very susceptible...

My John Deere Worksite Pro to SSQA Project

Your work looks nice, just be very careful. First off a 410J lifts way way more than most skid steer attachments are designed to lift and even worse when you starting pushing around on them with a 18,000lb+ machine. Second I think you'll find the machine to be very off balance with an attachment...

Need a smaller general purpose excavator bucket... what size? 36" and 6" currently

24" bucket is by far my most used size past/present on everything from 3.5t mini ex's to full size backhoes. Good size for general purpose digging, digging footers, clearing land, works fine for trenching, ok for loading. For my 5t mini ex I have a 12", 24" and 36" buckets as well as a smooth...

    480e hydraulics

Tank builds pressure through heat in the fluid, as the oil expands it pressurizes the system. I just watched the video you posted, I can't tell how loud it is but the sound itself doesn't sound that odd. Could just be a weird harmonic/vibration at a certain rpm, I would also keep checking for...

    480e hydraulics

The hydraulic tank on a 480E should always have positive pressure under normal operation, if you remove the cap when running or after running and there is no pressure in the tank you have a problem. It's pressurized to keep a constant feed of oil to the pump and keep contaminates out. Be sure to...

    Simple things difficult to find

Any time I buy a fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, etc and it comes with a few different sizes of those I squirrel them away for future use.

Spec creep and the disappearance of the 10-12 ton class excavators

That would be an ideal size for me, a 1yd bucket is about right for a 'larger' machine for my needs. Very few EX100's around here though and most machines I find that age are completely beat.

Spec creep and the disappearance of the 10-12 ton class excavators

Transportation is a very regional thing. What a man can haul in Iowa where roads are arrow straight and flat as a skillet is completely different than here in the mountains with 20%+ grades and sharp switchbacks. Most of AL I've been in is somewhere in between. Around here a 120 is about the...

Spec creep and the disappearance of the 10-12 ton class excavators

I've found that to be odd as well. On a 6-ton or smaller machine I really like the swing boom, 8-10 ton I'd much prefer a mono boom.

Spec creep and the disappearance of the 10-12 ton class excavators

I started my first business in '00 and my current business in '07 so I remember '08 very well. About the worst time to start a new business. My first year I made $17K gross, thank goodness we had some savings to live on. I know we've all been saying it for awhile, but I think we are right at...
