    CAT 330D boom repair

I don’t think anything hit it. I think it’s twisting and loaded up. When we sectioned it it moved about 1 inch as we were cutting out the bad section. That and the center pin was bound up and had to be pressed out

    Proper operating temps of D7G?

I had the same problem with a D8k. We replaced the thermostat housing and it helped quite a bit. I guess the housing was worn out and was allowing the coolant to bypass the radiator. Hope this helps

    D7h hit a little mud

Yeah we managed to get it out with a 320 excavator. We had to dig a ramp behind the machine with a gentle slope. Then I got in the dozer and lifted the front nose out by pushing down with the blade to break the suction from the mud. While the front was still up we chained to the excavator stick...

    Cat 613c transmission issue

I just traded some work for a 1991 Cat 613c scraper. It's a really good running machine. The only issue is that it will shift into first and second gear and pull fine. When I shift it into third fourth or fifth the transmission doesn't engage. It shifts into sixth gear just fine and has plenty...

    D8h leaking

It sounds like the inner duo cone seal is either worn out and leaking or there is wire or fishing line in the drive. Being that I dig out vineyards we tend to cut a final seal about once a year. Its so bad for us that we fabricate our own wire seals around the final drives. I think the last one...

    More Cracks!

Nige, Do you think that Lincoln NR 311ni will do the trick? I can see places on the rake where it has been patched with 7018 rod and that is starting to stress crack as well. I have had really good luck running 5/64 NR 311ni wire in the flat position. The last cracks I fixed with NR 311ni have...

    More Cracks!

I just bought this Fleco rock rake and found a couple cracks in the upper bar where the teeth bolt through. I believe the rake is made from T-1 steel. I'm going to carbon arc gouge the cracks first then plate the top bar with 5/8" T-1. I'm planning on preheating to 400 degrees and using 1/4...

    hard surfaceing ripper points

Out here in Central California we do a bunch of deep ripping for the farmers who want to break up hard pan. We use Ranite D on our ripper points and upper guards. On the tip of the ripper point we use Rantung. It works really good if the ground is really abrasive. If your going to hit rocks or...
