    259D DEF/ Particulate Filter

    Pull the engine. You will screw with trying to get the bolts out for two hours. Put your head down and go to work. Have the engine out in a hour.

    Is the hydraulic fan turning. Quick way to see if you have any fluid moving at all like possible pump coupler failure.

    Speed sensor sounds accurate. Get your zf model and call precision transmission in Pennsylvania. Super smart and helpful people. Plus parts are cheap from them instead of dealer.

    Under the right joystick there is a connector for float. Unplug that and see how it acts. The float solenoid will short out and make those machines go crazy. Will throw off five volt and twelve volt system

    Wouldn’t think that would cause that much vibration. Bearings ok in tensioner. Motor mounts correct and tight ? Hydrostat mounted correctly?

    It’s worth while to check the banjo filter in the transfer pump. If you are getting black smoke when the engine is bogging down however it’s probably not fuel restriction.     Troubleshooting is never a bad idea and there always can be multiple problems but if you have a data link code and def quality codes. Stick a sensor kit in it a start pushing dirt.

    The machine I was working on was a kr2 d4k. The letter expired at the end of the month. The header had switched to a sensor kit. But the service letter was discovered by tech support and cat was to far out to get to machine.
