    Best mower?

Its just that everyone from the city moves to the country and wants to be a small organic farmer so the demand is high and the supply is low. Below 50hp the emissions aren't an issue. I looked at buying a tractor a while back but it was cost prohibitive. Now I own the skid steer so why not...

    Best mower?

The flail mower looks good. Good luck finding a 40 hp tractor in Northern California that runs for less than about $20k.

    Best mower?

I know...bouncing around a lot. The Loftness flail mower is priced online at about $8000 for a 90". My skid steer will generate 50hp hydraulic so it's within the specs for the attachment. Anyone used a Loftness flail?

    Best mower?

After doing some more research and hearing what you guys are saying I'm thinking what I really need is a flail mower. I'm still hoping to save a few bucks. Thinking of picking up a 72" front mount 3 point hitch mower. Those look to be running about $5000. Eterra makes an adapter so you can...

    Best mower?

I've got a Kubota SVL65, one of the new little machines. 60hp, 27gpm @3250psi. I need a mowing attachment for my property, but I was also thinking I could make some extra money mowing other peoples fields in my area. We also do large tree removals, lots of big monterey pines loaded with...

What do you use to break down larger logs for grinding?

I'm wondering what tools everyone is using to bust up their big logs for grinding? I've seen those cone splitters sized for large excavators. I've seen the over sized hydraulic ram splitters like from Multitech and Cord King. I've heard of using "stump shears" for breaking up logs too. I...

    Bandit 1680

    Could you try to repost?

    Bandit 1680

You sent me down an interesting rabbit hole. The Morbark M20R with an infeed table looks to be the closest thing in production these days. It's 30" wide instead of 36" and weighs in at almost 17k instead of 13k. Looks to be approx. $150k. Thinking, thinking...

    Bandit 1680

Ok this is more like it. I’ve never seen one of these before. Thanks.

    Bandit 1680

I'm looking at the 20xp. It has half the chipping drum width as a 1680 so the really big wood will still be a pain to process. With an infeed table my guess is that chipper is going to run close to $200k new. A used 1680 is probably just slightly less than that. I wonder what the difference...

    Bandit 1680

I’ve got a wood cracker. I’ve been using it for processing logs to go through a 15” chipper. Getting into the much bigger wood I think it would be easier to just “buck 18’s”.

    Bandit 1680

Does anyone have any experience with the bandit 1680 or the Morbark 2600. I’m looking at the chipper drum option since everything we’re generating from the tree service is clean, no metal and very little dirt. I’m just wondering if the 1680 or 2600 can deal with chunky wood? We take out lots...

Repowering wood grinder with Tier 4 engine

I brought my chipper into Pape today to get it serviced and asked their head tech about the repower. He said I'd be into it for $100k for the engine and installation if it was even possible with all of the new wiring. That would all need to be cash and wouldn't be reflected in the resale...

Repowering wood grinder with Tier 4 engine

No tier 3 or earlier equipment can be imported into California. For the next couple years tier 3 can still change hands within CA but it needed to be registered in Ca by some date that is long past. Ca is a pain in the ass, but there is money here. I just don't have enough of it to buy an...

Repowering wood grinder with Tier 4 engine

I copied this post from the General discussion forum. I've been looking for a Komptech Crambo wood grinder that doesn't cost $800k. There are a couple tier 3 machines out of California for $200-300k. Could anyone guess how much it would cost to repower a machine with a Cat c-13 500hp tier 4...
