    Over Tire tracks

We use tracks over tires on some of our machines. Tires under tracks last a lot longer, especially when in rough, rocky terrain. And yes, the traction is boosted quite a bit. A good set of tracks over a set of solid tires is the best combo for low maintenance and longevity. My two pence. :D

Troubleshooting weakening hydraulic power in Cat 246A/272A units

Ok...but I'm pretty sure the relief valves are engaging at the point of failure. I can hear it. I meant to say that in the initial post, sorry. But...those valves are supposed to be calibrated to open at a high pressure, right? So if the valves are working correctly, the pump should be ok as...

Troubleshooting weakening hydraulic power in Cat 246A/272A units

We have been experiencing a steady decline in hydraulic power in several of our skid steers. They are 246A and 272A models, all with 4-6k hours on them. Engine runs fine, and there is no mobility problem. But the boom and tilt functions are sluggish and lacking in power; even with the throttle...

    skid steer controls

I have not operated the old control type more than a few hours here and there, years ago and in a non-professional environment...so I can't really compare the two. But I practically grew up with joysticks in my hands, perfecting my stormy-night carrier landing in a flight-simulator game or...

    Welcome!!!

MaCotMFF aka 'Mac' I am a "newbie operator" (a designation sure to strike terror in the hearts of General Contractors everywhere). Fortunately for me--and my Boss--the work we do is land/brush/tree management, with an emphasis on state or federal property and specializing in agricultural...

    How Did You Find Us?

As the resident (read: only) computer geek in our small company, I was asked to search for and identify online resources pertaining to the type of work we do. The Bossman is old school, hard core, can fix anything and still outworks all us young punks...but his sole concession to the Digital...

    observations about skid steers

Hehe...yeah, there is that problem. Can't get any work done if I spend all day screening, answering, and returning phone calls. So....I don't. :D I disable all notifications when I'm operating...except for a select few. The phone will ring if it's a co-worker on the same jobsite as me, or...

    observations about skid steers

I dunno if we're allowed to discuss politics here...but I will mention that all of the political stuff going on these days caused me to rig up a mount and power supply for my Android phone in my 246A. Now I have 3G net access and streaming radio in my skid steer. Heh.
