    Seal kits

Hercules, they are pretty decent. I just put 5 kits in a 580 SK. I had to go to Case to buy one kit Hercules didn't have, it was quadruple and more than the price of the others.

    Cat d6c

The torque convertor on the D6C's are notorious for overheating. They will make for a long day if you are pushing up a dam or something like it. The rest of the machine is pretty solid. I would go for the 10K over the 76A if you go for a powershift.

    Transmissions?

I prefer the 5 speed with a 1241 behind it. All my trucks have a winch or multiple winches, and they make running the winch nice. For a road truck I really like a 13 or 18 speed. I had a 34,000#gvw service truck with a 8LL and it was a sweet combination also.

Need advise on building a grubber for a D6

Here are some pics of the one I built for my 22x D5B. It is a smaller version of the one on my D6 and does not have the push bar on it. It is a regional deal where there is Mesquite trees. Since Mesquites have tap roots that go down almost as deep as the tree is tall, the object is to cut it...

No, that would be a rake in this neck of the woods.

Need advise on building a grubber for a D6

Thats about how mine is. I used 1.5" thick steel and they were 10" wide. I put them 30" apart and the blade at 15 degrees when it hit the ground. It will go in 20" deep, enough to get any Mesquite root ball. I also added a push bar at the top that is just a piece of 4" 16.60 pound drill pipe. It...

    Spicer Transmissions?

I have driven trucks for years with the Spicer five speed and the Spicer 1241 four speed auxillary behind it and had no trouble. They are a little more touchy to shift, but driven correctly they are fine. The pair in my 83 Paystar 5000 have over 700,000 mile on them and have been re-bearing one...

    d6r xw series2 vs 850j lgp

Thats not uncommon on a 6R. Cat had a PSP on them years ago. It involved repairing the cracks and adding some inner and outer plates. I have repaired a dozen or so of them like that.

    Replacing Brake Bands on D5

A 96 J is not a D5B. If it is a 96J, the bands will come out in 3 pieces like has been stated. If it does happen to be a D5B such as a 24X, the steering clutch will have to be removed. Either way, no special tools required.

    D4C inj pump gear puller

[/U][/B] Dang, I forgot about that, I was thinking 3304 instead. The prybars have worked well for me also.

    D4C inj pump gear puller

I have always used the standard old steering wheel puller also. It takes 2 3/8" UNF about 1.5" long bolts to attach to the gear. Im wondering why the pump got out of time, unless someone didnt get it right before.

    D3C brake bands

You can measure the thickness of the stack to see what kind of wear you have. I think I have a book on a 6SL and if needed I will get the info tommorow.
