Skidders- Tracks ot Tires, Lines or Grapples- Lets see what you've got!

That 528 was used to maintain haul roads. The back blade was used as a drag and the front 6-way blade mostly was used to plow snow. The guy that owns that knew more about keeping his roads in shape than anyone I've seen. Many times he was the only contractor around able to haul during wet spells.

Skidders- Tracks ot Tires, Lines or Grapples- Lets see what you've got!

They were using it to get fuel to the yarder as the road was too muddy for a pickup. The crew was using 4-wheelers to get to the job.

    1952 Caterpillar D4 clutch issues

As far as I know D4's of that era were all dry clutches. The thick oil they drained was probably transmission oil that seeped in,a fairly normal occurence. The throwout acts on some finger levers in there that tighten the clutch disc to the flywheel. To adjust the clutch you turn the finger lever...

Broken circle on Link belt stroker

Thanks for the information.Do you know how it should be reinforced?Should the deck floor be plated or braces from the frame welded to the floor or both be done? Also how critical is it that the surfaces be machined as I don't think they plan on splitting it,just welding it from on top.Trying to...

    Link Belt circle breaking out

Not sure if this belongs here or in the forestry section.I work for a logging company running a Link Belt 3400 Quantum excavator with a stroke delimber mounted on it.They bought another machine like it 2 years ago with the highwalker undercarriage on it which is wider and heavier than the...

    starting a D6 cable

These can be changed to direct electric start. The latest 9U's had a "starter hole"machined out below the starting engine clutch assembly and a lot of the earlier ones had a "blank" spot to drill and tap a hole for a starter.Go to the ACMOC web site and you will find a lot of information about...

    International/Rolls Royce combo?

Wilson Tractor Colfax Wa. had one years ago that I drove around their lot.Very good condition but could have bought it cheap as parts were hard to find and it had a tick in the transmission. If I remember right it was made in UK.

    Linkbelt yarder

I've been running a delimber behind one of these 98's for about 4 years now and I agree with Eric1975,these are a high production machine for the timber we log.We average 12-15 loads a day in summer and 9-11 in winter using a 3 man crew(operator, hooker in the brush and chaser on the...
