    Working the National 1300A

Wonder if they ever came up with a reason for the fire? Seems strange that a pretty new house would just burn for no reason. They sure the mortgage payment did not get too close to a source of fire?

    Accomadating a neighbor

Am I missing something here? Is the road the neighbor is complaining about the dust from a public highway/road? If so why should the owner of the track be responsible for dust from traffic? If the track is an allowed use of the property I can't see any standing for this neighbors complaints...

    Memories for us old truckers

Wonder what it had for engine(s)? Just so happens I have book that lists a 1LLD as having two NHRS Cummins and being a 50 ton truck. Then again that one shown is being called a "Western 80" which I believe refers to the trailer section not the tractor. I'm having a hard time believing two...

    1990 Mack RD wiring info

Not sure of the year this was from but best I have. It was too big to fit on scanner so I scanned it as two images. One could print out both images and then splice they together. Also I scanned at a good resolution so if view on computer it should be easier to read. Like Truck Shop says this is...

    Memories for us old truckers

Sometimes one can just be at the right place at the right time. The day after I graduated from high school I started working at the quarry where my dad worked most of my life. Just shoveling und conveyors and other manual labor. Did that for a couple summers while going to community college...

Am I missing it or was he working under that boom with no supports? And even if he was not at that point working on it why was the boom left up and unsupported? Looks like there is some blocking available right next to the machine.

    Has anyone else heard this?

In the 40+ years I worked on equipment a the quarry I think I could count on one hand the number of ring gears I had to replace. I think most were damaged by a faulty starter drive. As to always stopping at the same place I could see that a four cylinder engine might tend to stop in one or two...

    CAT D6C info

That last picture that says D6 Series C, look around it and see if there are any letters or numbers stamped in the block as often Cat stamped the S/N right in the block very close to where that tag is mounted. At least the machines here in the USA were done that way.

    Overload of the Day

Just saw that on the nightly news. I hope they throw every thing they can at that guy and he never is allowed behind the wheel of anything more than a kids peddle car!

I recall seeing an old manual transmission Euclid do that when driver stalled it going up a hill loaded. Lucky someone near by knew to kill it then restart before any major damage was done. Do recall it pushed some of the oil out of the oil bath air filter!

    Kenworth or Mack

Okay then, I'll just have to make 12 to 15 trips to carry that much. I get paid by the hour so why rush it? ;)
