    Quad track transmission

Quads are known for eating transmissions around the 3500hr mark. We had 8 of them and between 3000-4000hr all 8 went through a transmission. We usually pulled three pans with them though.

How hard is it to find CAT 627E Scrapers with a 3406 for the rear engine?

If you have the money go with the F series 627's. I've run the the late model E's and F's and the F was a superior machine IMO.

    Have to have a Screen?

Yup out here in Indiana we have the samething. We have to process the rock down to a 4inch material. We just shoot the hell out of it then run it through a crusher. Just picked up a job in Bella Vista Arkansas that requires a similar spec about the sizing of the rock. Is it a Sandstone type...

    gps dozers

At Lambrecht we used a GPS Trimmer which was awesome, got it close with a dozer and let the trimmer go. It just depends on what state your in and what the price of the rocks is. As well if you have to do subgrade treatment with lime or cement then a blade is almost a must unless you rough it in...

    Why Caterpillar's profits are plummeting

You guys are also missing a big key factor, look at all the companies and mines shutting down or going out of business. I mean Lambrecht had almost 600 pieces of late model equipment that hit the market and that is just one company. There are a lot of nice used equipment on the market these days...

    95 acre land clearing job

Look at renting a track loader with grabbel and bucket instead of the D6. Track Loaders can be very useful in clearing and can usually move trees around alot faster. As you knock down the trees place them neetly in a well placed pile. Just look around and find what spots would be best, and pile...

    Estimate training

DPete hit the nail on the head, a lot of companies go over on finishing. Its not all the estimators fault really, sometimes its break downs, on the job mistakes, or a punch list from hell from the owner. Best way to really learn is to estimate a job and then go out in the field and do it. You'll...

    farm tractors and pans

Seems around the mid west thats all people run is tractor and pans. As for the video posted yeah the 631's would smoke them but the only problem is we had every 631 running we had so we added the John Deere to the cut. 631's hauled a pretty good chunk more a day over the deere. That why you will...

    farm tractors and pans

I don't know if your union or not but if you are you are eating up half that with just the operator. If that is not including operator then yes it can be done at a very small margin. Just wondering what company you are talking about that is runing at those cost?

    85 ton excavator

Depends on where at in Louisiana, we had a 385 in Northern Louisiana towards Shreveport and ground problems were not an issue. If he is from that area Cat dealers are ridiculous. Don't have any parts for anything bigger then a D6. Honestly take a good look at the new 374's, They are a very nice...
