Need New Tracks - CAT 299D

Things are rough in Austin, trying to find someone to do the install was basically a no go so I'm doing it now. I ended up going with midwest as they could have them here in two days. $3000 for a set of multi bar tracks which for my ranch should be fine. It'll tear up the ground a lot less as...

Cat wants $6800 just for tracks, anyone ordered from the other vendors and are they really that much better, I'm going to assume no.

Looking for 299 class machine. What are the comparables?

I would also highly consider your location and the dealers for parts and service that are in your area. If you have never serviced heavy equipment before you may want to see what techs are in the area if you are remote and ask them what they like to work on and why. Service and maintenance on...

    2014 Cat 299D - no bucket lift/tilt

Well after spending about a day messing with this the magnet on the door turned horizontally vs. vertically seems to make it work again, but not 100%. I do believe the rocker switch for my hydralic lockout is on the fritz as well and will replace it. Thanks for all the help and patience.

    2014 Cat 299D - no bucket lift/tilt

thanks, I've seen that but the connector for the door latch, with the magnetic sensor only has 3 wires so I'm that doesn't work unless I need to jump the wiper motor assembly. My understanding is that the door switch gets magnetized from the magnet that's attached. There are not 6 wires in...

    2014 Cat 299D - no bucket lift/tilt

I was pushing over some cedar trees and a tree jumped out and smacked the polycarbonate winshield pretty good. The bucket lost power both lift and tilt. No active codes, the power attach/detach tool still works, it drives/runs fine.. I don't have a bunch of hydraulic fluid everywhere. I...
