New member - advice on used backhoe

Two quick thoughts. 1) The bigger the backhoe is, the heavier and slower it is to work with. 2) I would not buy a 2wd 680L. Talk about something that would be easy to get stuck.

New member - advice on used backhoe

Welcome to HEF Farmn. Is there a construction equipment dealer near you that could support your machine? I have a John Deere backhoe and the two construction/heavy equipment/ AG dealers that are closest to me are John Deere. I would not recommend buying a machine that has no support around you...

Purchasing first TLB and need advice

Looks like my wife and I can fly round try from Bham Al through Lisben to San Miguel for approximately $700 each. Bet you can have some good seafood for supper? :)

Purchasing first TLB and need advice

So it looks like your island Flores is about 1200 miles from Lisbon. Which is crazy far, but you are in the middle of the ocean. I found these guys selling John Deere equipment (including construction) in Portugal and in several cities including Lisbon. Moviter Equipamentos S.A has five sales...

Purchasing first TLB and need advice

Magnus, off topic, but you seem to know the English language well. Do most people speak English so well there? If I came to visit, would I be able to order dinner at a restaurant for example? Just curious.

Come along on two pipe wrenches

That'll work in a dangerous kind of way. People use truck cranes to break cylinder nuts all the time. Kinda like that but horizontal.

This is remote! Literally smack in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. :)

Welcome to the forum Magnus. You might consider buying from the closest dealer/distributor to your location. Just how remote are you? Got any neighbors with equipment? Maybe you could rent?

    John Deere 310 E

Gary, If I might add, your 310E may not shaft on the fly anyway because its a 20+ year old backhoe and the synchronizers are likely worn out. I rarely use any gear other than 1st because of this very thing. Interestingly enough it will shift from 1st to 3rd fairly well because they are on...

    John Deere 310 E

Wouldn't that be an easy fix! I have not had this problem with my 310E, but it might be time for a little oil on my brake pedal pin just the same.

    John Deere 310 E

Welcome to HEF! Gary, your brakes are spring applied and hydraulically released. So anytime you don't have sufficient transmission fluid or pressure then the brakes will apply. Have you had the machine for a while? How long this been going on?

case 780 impulse buy, so many questions....

Looking at these pictures, it doesn't look half bad. Get the engine running, then do hoses and cylinders as they go.:) Might avoid eating all this at once.

    Deere 310SJ slipping when cold

Have you checked the fluid condition while tractor is acting up? I wonder if you have aeration in your fluid on startup and after a while it works itself out. I would think if clutches slipping, that would worsen as the machine gets to operating temperature. Its a weird problem you have with the...
