    Cat 966H versus Komatsu WA470

Well I was handed my brand new 966H about three weeks ago and I very nearly walked out. I have never operated a machine with so much plastic on it, the switch gear feels like it's been made by Fisher Price, it's cheap and nasty. Over the past couple of weeks I've had a few heated discussions...

    D10R pic...

Our problem is inexperienced (Dozer) drivers. We got rid of our big shovels in favour of the D10 but it didn't come with a driver (no kidding) The guy who usually drives it does a decent job but he is or was a shovel driver. On occasion due to manpower shortages we have had to hire in a driver...

Here's another pic of the dozer, with an A35 in the background. http://oi56.tinypic.com/t9veqg.jpg

    How Did You Find Us?

I found this site totally by accident, I was searching "Google" for something unrelated and this site came up, good find:)

    First generation hydraulic excavators?

Some good excavator pics here, this is a snap of our 460 loading an A35.

    Hi Digger...

Now I know I'm not a clever chap but on other vBulletin forums there are two icons that seem to be missing here, one for posting pics the other for movie clips. I know I mentioned this in a PM a few days ago but nothing seems to have changed, I still cant post pics which is a little frustrating...

    Cat 966H versus Komatsu WA470

I don't think there's much in it, the 150 weighs in at 24,000kgs, the 966 weighs in at 23,700kgs. Tell me, do you know if the 966H has a forward/reverse switch like Volvo's or do Cat still use that bloody awful stick on the steering column to change direction?

Take a look at these... Just came across these pics. This is a CAT D11 after the operator misjudged the embankment. The dragline rescued it. http://www.danbartlett.net/pics2/D11Rrescue1.jpg http://www.danbartlett.net/pics2/D11Rrescue2.jpg...

Thanks for the welcome :) It's a sand & gravel quarry. The dig is hard as hell which is why we changed from the 988 & 330 to a dozer. We've just bought an American Greystone sand plant, the guy who came over from the US to oversee the instalation assured us it was the best sand plant on the...

    Cat 966H versus Komatsu WA470

Here's a pic of that L150C, I know it looks pretty unremarkable as L150's go but it's been a real workhorse, and very reliable. It' is soon to be replaced with a 996H, I should be pleased I suppose but in all honesty I'm going to miss that old shovel.

I seem to be having problems posting pics, can't see a picture or movie clip icon to click on! Anyhoo...this is what replaced our Cat 988 & Volvo 330. The dig became very hard and it was wrecking the shovels (particularly the 330) so we changed to ripping & pushing with this, there's not much...

    Cat 966H versus Komatsu WA470

We've been using Volvo loaders for a few years now, an L150 and an L180 on the yard (loading trucks) and until a couple of years ago an L330 digging the face (now replaced with a D10) We tried a Komatsu 470 which proved unpopular and unreliable, particularly the stick steering which broke almost...

    who makes the BEST dozer

I'm no expert but I'd say Cat are the best. We have a D6 and a D10 on site, no complaints with either.

Ever see a big Bobcat dozer?

An interesting machine, never seen anything like it. How much does it cost?
