I run the hoe and that is what I like about the green beam

    pipe laser questions

I have used both and I find the green beam way easier see against the dirt. Material changes everywhere but around here we have a lot of reddish brown clay and that makes it hard to spot a red beam 4 feet deep or 20 feet deep. I use the beam to help me grade the ditch before the pipe layer gets...

    Grading with an excavator

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Take your time and learn to do what you need at a slower pace and with practice will come the speed. If that thing has a blade you could make it look like a fairway but it takes time. When trying to grade work small areas at a time and start at the back and...

    Trenching production

try getting a spot on grade and put the bucket flat on the bottom of the ditch and mark the bucket for grade. a reference point can help to visualize where you need to be .

I need some advice on what size excavator I will need for a strange job....

The 321 will lift both of those piece . Make sure you keep the rigging short because you loose your lifting capacity quick with long chains or straps. As said before if you can drop the bucket off that will only help you out.

328DLCR bucket to cab interference problems

800' of sewer 17' deep in the road is awesome production! you must have a hell of a crew to get that much in and backfilled up in a day. I run a hoe on a pipe crew so I understand what you are talking about but one thing I was told is "if it was easy anyone could do it". You cant have rammer...

328DLCR bucket to cab interference problems

what about running a narrower bucket that is taller and deeper? that way it cant hit the cab. A 36" bucket would probably work. I do have to agree with the other guys though if you cant see the bucket IN FRONT of you hitting the cab what else are you gonna hit?

    Precast Sewer Structures...

all of our storm drain manholes and inlets must have a channel. usually they are poured but the job we are on now specifies brick channels and if the manhole has more than a 5 foot drop it needs a granite channel . as far as sewer goes we usually have precast channels for the smaller pipe runs...

    Pipe line equipment.

i would keep them on the smaller side if you are only using 13-20 ton hoes. they get heavy fast and with stone in there they might be to much to move. i would stay between the 5-7yrd range.we mostly use the 12-15 yrd boxes and once you start putting stone in the get tough with the 336 and 345.

10km of trenching for 220kv Cables

where ever possible open cut the ditch for production like said above. if ther are spots that you cant due to space you might have to accept less production unless you have alot of boxes . if you can roll through the shallow parts you should be ok overall. how many feet per day are you looking at?

    Cat 345BL

i would probably go with a smaller machine. fuel alone is alot of money. running hard all day they will almost burn a whole tank and i think its almost 200 gallons

    Pipe Work and Excavator Size

around here a 20 ton machine would'nt cut it for a single machine on most projects.we mostly run 345's on our pipe jobs. yes some we can do with a 20 ton machine and some need an 85 ton machine so there is no standard size for pipe work.
