    Where to find operating tips?

Everything mentioned so far is right on the money. My 2c worth of advice Find somewhere - out of harms way with no utilities/trees/obstacles/bystanders - to operate and get to know your limits and the limitations of your machine so that you can learn to operate your machine SAFELY.

australian machinery licensing questions and queries

If your employer is going to come to the party covering some/all the costs, then my advice is to go hard and get as much as you're comfortable with. I have to agree with Spanner - There's nothing worse than having to count on someone else to drive a forkllift when you need one - so chase that...

    Tooth cover

We do it all the time. Weld a section of straight steel plate or old cutting edge to the teeth. Use mainly for service/utility location and in softer ground for a clean trench and floor. Half of my buckets have "blades" made up and ready to be fitted in place of straight teeth.

    Caterpillar backhoe question

Well I would never have thought of that! Come to think of it I have never seen them on a machine down here in Australia. I thought the holes may have been for securing/routing extra hydraulic lines etc.

    Deere vs Cat controls

G'day guys, In Australia Excavators are almost all SAE and Backhoes (traditional controls) are ISO. However newer Backhoes with excavator style joysticks offer both styles. In the SAE control pattern, the left hand controls swing (left-right) and dipper (in-out), and the right hand...

    Liugong CLG766III Backhoe Questions

I would not be rushing into purchasing a Liugong product considering that even the North American website for this company has no listing (new) for backhoe's. It looks to be a knock-off of the JCB and I believe that this company was in all sorts of strife in relation to copyright/intellectual...

Is it just me or do 5 of the dozers have what looks like snow-wing like attachments?

What's this for on top of my blade?

This probably not the answer but something for you to think about. When I was a little tacker (a fair few years ago) my father had either a D5 or D6 and wanted a tree pusher attachment. Living in the bush, about 400km from the nearest town, he built his own which mounted (removable) to the...
