CAT 924K and 926M EGR cooler leak

The 926M has 6000 hours on it. The 924K had it a few years ago, probably 7-8000 hours back then. Both had full dealer service since new, always CAT oils, filters and coolant. The 924K had 5000 hours contract on it but managed to get a another few free services for it when we closed the deal on...

CAT 924K and 926M EGR cooler leak

Thanks Had dealer mechanic out on Thursday, confirmed "probably leaking" cooler. Wanted to take it off, take it with him for testing etc, and if necessary order new one. i told him to order a new one and when he had it to come change it. Friday morning machine started to blow a little...

CAT 924K and 926M EGR cooler leak

Good morning. Our Cat 926M has started using coolant, and is getting to the point where it has difficulty starting in the morning, I assume from water on top of a piston. Our 924K had the same problem a few years ago, to the point it would crank anymore. Turned out to be the EGR cooler, whole...

    CAT 924K F-N-R switch?

hi. My 924K has some connection issues in the FNR switch, located on top of the joystick. Sometimes you press forward and it doesn't move. So i wanted to order a new switch from my CAT dealer. Says CAT only sells the complete "control handle" PN 356-5208. Seems a bit unnecessary i think? Maybe...

    Cat 924 G radiator fan doesn't turn

At the moment it won't brake at all but I guess that might be due to me unhooking some hoses for troubleshooting. I phoned my dealer to come and fix it, but the quote they gave me made me decide to leave it. As I said I'm 2 weeks out on it's replacement

    Cat 924 G radiator fan doesn't turn

Brake accumulators need to be filled/replaced as the brake light comes on as soon as you hit the brake pedal. But now brakes don't seem to work anymore either after yesterday unplugging some hoses... I'm 2 weeks out from receiving it's predecessor, a 926M so I don't want to do to much on it...

    Cat 924 G radiator fan doesn't turn

Good day My 2001 Cat 924G is heating up because the radiator fan doesn't turn. Only on high engine revs. I checked oil supply to the little pump on the right side of the engine, has plenty of oil but none comes out the hoses to the fan at idle... Is that pump shot? Can there be something...

    Cat 924G slow hydraulics

Hi Nige. How ya been? The loader arm does not drift down. The bucket does... How and where should I test pressures?

    Cat 924G slow hydraulics

Recently our 2001 cat 924G seems slow on hydraulics. When lifting a full bucket into a dump trailer I need to rev the engine pretty hard to make it lift. On idle if I pull the cross lever back, I feel oil pressure but boom won't raise. Only when I give her gas the bucket raises. Curling bucket...

Cat 924 G trembling articulation, why?

Can't help you on the mechanical part of your question. But I have a 924G myself. Is this your first loader or do you have experience? I notice on our loaders that when a new driver first drives them they tend to jerk the steering wheel to much. Smooth steering is want you want. You'll learn...

    Mitsubishi engines on CAT

My previous excavator (CAT 212BFT) had a 3114T engine which was also made by Mitsubishi. Found that out later when my IT24F wheel loader that had the same engine had a hole in a sleave.

    988b project

Not sure how big your FARM is but isn't a 988 "a little on the large side" for farm use? Being a farmer myself I wouldn't know what to do with it on my farm. Plus I probably would spend half or more of my time being stuck in the mud with it...
