I think my local dealer is really hosing me down.

Deere stock order program is a three day delivery no freight charge. I'm a Deere dealer I never charge a handling fee for my customers . I do charge freight if it's a machine down order but it is the exact cost. As far as the online I have customers who use this but many order the incorrect...

I do 80% marine. Do not do much with Cat though not many around here in my part ofMaine. Just 3 C32 1700hp and 6 C18 1000hp. A lot of Deere and Cummins for propulsion. And almost all Deere for Genset mad power units.

Saveing trips to and from the toolbox or service truck.

I do a lot of work on commercial and lobster boats, everything is in Milwaukee bags, then I put back everything back in my service truck boxes. Sometimes I make five plus trips back and for in skiffs. I also bill for time for putting my tools and parts that are not us back in stock. Wintertime...

John Deere Service Advisor Diagnostic software

Those DVDs are only good for 3 months and you need a user name and password from Deere. At least this is my Deere world I'm in the power systems group. There are online classes for service advisor but you need to be affiliated with Deere

Engine overhaul break in, ring seating

Lantraxco, Deere engineers tell me it's basically SAE 30 with a bunch of additives to promote break in. Can you guys school me on Bon Ami? I have never heard of using it. Also here's a story about a customer who used break in oil to the max. He purchased a 225hp 6068T Deere marine engine and...

Engine overhaul break in, ring seating

I agree with Drifter, use Deere break in oil and put 200hrs on that oil (Deere changed this from 100hrs a couple years ago) also is the kit genuine Deere? Most aftermarket stuff I've used is not up to par. But that was a long time ago and I'm bias anyhow. I've had a lot of break in issues with...

Very Rough engine idle Deere 490D

Four diesel what did the fuel look like when you cracked the high pressure lines? Foamy would cause a lower than recommended rpm and those motors shake severely. I tend to think that is in the injection pump seeing that you had it rebuild a while back. I've been Working on these things for...

    What's wrong with people?

Well guys there is some hope, I hired a 21yo from tech school in February and he's doing quite well! Asking all the right questions and not doing the stupid stuff so far. It's really hard to find young guys around here because they all get jobs in lobster boats making up to six figures for only...
