I grew up on a farm so I guess I've been operating machinery all my life. After serving in the USAF I joined the teamsters and drove cement truck a couple years then gravel truck a couple more. Never really warmed up to the teamster way of doing things so took a withdrawal card and did odd jobs for a few years until the economy started coming around in the 80's then joined the Operating Engineers in '83. I went back to work for the same company that I'd driven gravel truck for and stayed with them just about all of 29 years. Through most of the '90s they were one of the biggest contractors around having over 70 scrapers owned and rented working all over the state. I've operated most everything you'd see on a typical dirt spread, but mostly scrapers, pushcat, and finish dozer w/wo GPS.
