    555e Hub Seal

Hey NH, did you ever replace your hub seal? My passenger side is leaking again and I'm thinking now is the time to change it, considering its sitting in my driveway at the moment.

Republic Oil 5% Moly #1 Heavy Duty High Temp Grease

I’ve been buying Chevron 5% moly. Last time I bought it was under $50 for a case. No idea what it is now but I would assume somewhere around there.

    555e Floor

Finally was able to get the hose replaced. Honestly it was quite simple. I had fairly good access to everything and had to remove a couple hose connections that were in the way so I had full wrench access. Only 3 issues I came across with one being my fault… 1) I had the hose made about 1-2...

can i use heat to get gland nut loose.

Heat is last option. Try the “peening” method, using a spanner wrench with a big ole bar behind it, or pipe wrench. Those have been my success stories, however I have used a bit of heat also at times.

Drainage Question - Tile Vs. Ditch / Swale

Double check you aren’t going to screw your neighbors. Based on the picture it doesn’t seem like it as it looks to be natural runoff, however once they see a machine problems will “appear” with them as they did with me a few years ago.

    555e Floor

So I crawled under the old girl today and after tracing the hose, it doesn’t look as bad as it initially seemed. Don’t get me wrong it’s going to suck, but luckily the fittings are somewhat in the open. I just hope they aren’t on too tight. On the first picture, it’s under the machine and on...

Controls as in where the parking brake is on the right hand side of the seat?

    555e Floor

Thanks for the pics. Unfortunately where the hose is that I need is more towards the back. No way in heck am I lifting up the cab and I think taking off the seat is going to be a lot more than I want to try. I guess I will just have to see exactly where the hose runs and how best to do it...

    555e Floor

I will look again tonight, but it’s leaking enough that with the machine still sitting in my driveway as it has been for the last year, I might as well keep it here a bit longer Vs doing it out in the middle of the woods 10 miles from home.

    555e Floor

Has anyone taken off the floor boards of a 555E or similar machine? I have a leaky hose that crosses over the top of the transmission housing from what I believe is the loader control to some split point on the other side. Looking at it I have no idea how I’m going to get to it from...

    PITA pond

If it were me…… I would dig the dam out and start over. I wouldn’t trust what someone else did especially since there ain’t any water in it. I’d do it correctly as BAM said and put a core trench in, backfill it with the best clay dirt you have on site and at least you can say that part is...

    Radio Replacement

Luckily for me I’m in the middle of the woods…. If I hit a gas, electric, water, or sewer line, I’ve got even more problems than I thought lol :D

    Radio Replacement

Well I ended up buying a $30 Jensen from Amazon. Came yesterday and installed it today. Took about an hour as I had to clean up some of the existing wiring, but surprisingly the speakers worked in the old girl. I will be rockin out when I dig now!
