    Greetings

A Merry Christmas to you and everyone here. Even though I don’t own most of the equipment being discussed I always enjoy being educated on the equipment operation and repairs.

    Deere 6420 1,000 PTO false over-speed warning

2005 Deere 6420. After brush cutting to years with a 540 PTO Land Pride I purchased a 1,000 PTO Land Pride. I removed and swapped end-for-end the rear PTO connector. Now when I increase the engine speed above 1200 or so RPM I get a ‘PTO OVER-SPEED’ warning. The 1,000 PTO indicator light on the...

Deere 6420 rear remote SCV leak down

Does everything come out thru the TOP? I was somewhat concerned also about loosing the 4? ball bearings. After reinstalling the SVC's do they need to be 'bled' to remove the air for them to function again ?

Deere 6420 rear remote SCV leak down

Every position seems to function correctly. It's just when I put it in 'neutral?'. the wing gradually goes down. I have to apply 'slight' UP pressure to keep it from dropping.

Deere 6420 rear remote SCV leak down

I need to rephrase my question. It is a 2006 Deere 6420. Anyone have an idea of what would cause the leak. Has anyone rebuilt a rear SCV ? It seems to have a LOT of springs and seals, any advice would be appreciated. ALSO, if I remove a SCV will I have to bleed the air out of the SCV block...

Deere 6420 rear remote SCV leak down

I have a 200 Deere 6420 with 3 remote 300 series SCV's. After raising the wing using #2 SCV of my brush cutter OR my disc the wing will slowly go back down. I swapped hoses and it stays with #2 SCV. The hose connection is NOT leaking. Unless someone has a better solution I figure I'll need to...

Oops. How bad is it ? kobelco ED190

If your 'mechanical fingers' are too short and you don't want to get an oil soaked arm you can always use Veterinary Insemination Rectal Gloves. They go all the way to the shoulder.

Tie a 'bore scope' to the end of a 3 ft “mechanic fingers”. The scope will save you time searching for the glasses.

What do ya'll think about battery electric excavators?

Converting diesel (or other) power (with the -energy loss- to do so) to charge a battery (with the -energy loss- to do so) which will convert battery energy (with the -energy loss- to do so) into electric energy seems counter efficient. Every time one form of power/ energy is converted to a...

What do ya'll think about battery electric excavators?

IMO- Most people today are confusing electric powered equipment/machinery with –battery powered- equipment/machinery. Battery production for battery powered machinery is using up Rare Earth Minerals at a rapid rate and cannot be sustained for very long. As far as I know there is no method of...

    Carrying a bucket

I do -a lot of walking- on my section of land. While I don’t especially like the boom pulling/bouncing the hydraulic cylinder I usually lower the boom and curl things in tight. It prevents hitting tree limbs and it’s easier to cross the small ditches in the fields.

    Caterpillar 311B battery issues

Yes, ALWAYS replace both at the same time if they are in series. As a battery ages it's internal resistance increases. If only ONE battery is replaced the old battery will not get fully charged and the new battery will get over charged. If there is a significant difference in the batteries the...

Cat 311B two speed travel issue

Are you sure you are stuck in rabbit mode? When traveling and you use a boom function or cab movement does it kick down into a slower speed?

1 step forward, 3 steps back

You should check the voltage at the battery terminals to see if it's charging. It is almost impossible to get 'electrocuted' by 12 or 24 volts DC. But of course when working with ANY electricity one should be careful and do not work in wet conditions.
