    1970 580CK dipper control stuck

Thank you, yea I was hoping to remove the spool while the control Valve is in the machine but I’m thinking it might be held together as Abseim said above. I’ll be messing with it in the morning and hopefully report back

    1970 580CK dipper control stuck

Thank you for the info and the diagram, it’s very helpful. Confirms what I was worried about. I was hoping I could drop out the spool from just problem valve instead of removing the whole assembly :(

    1970 580CK dipper control stuck

Hello Everyone, I have a 1970 Case 580Ck that has an extendahoe option on it. The dipper cylinder control will pull forward to bring it in but you cannot push the control forward to push the dipper arm out. I’m thinking something is locking the spool valve up partially. Am I correct in thinking...

    Dismounting Case 580 CK backhoe

Still naked, putting in some work today in tight quarters. Glad I still had the hoe off. Picked up 1000 pound transformer no problem.

    Dismounting Case 580 CK backhoe

Got the loader out of gear and seems to be shifting as normal now. Must have been a fluke. Here is a picture of the loader looking odd without the backhoe.

    Dismounting Case 580 CK backhoe

Finally got my crowfeet wrenches so today I battled the old hoses and was able to get them off. Thanks for all of your help. I didn’t loose much fluid taking the hoses off, maybe a quarter gallon if that. Reinstalled new hoses. Started the loader and pulled forward a couple of feet and...

    Dismounting Case 580 CK backhoe

Thanks guys, have a set of crowfeet wrenches but only go up to 1”, so I have a larger set on order. Thanks for the tip Coy. I was going to try the crowfeet but if I can’t get it, I’ll likely cut it close to get a large socket and breaker bar on it.

    Dismounting Case 580 CK backhoe

Thanks everyone for the help, today I was able to take off the backhoe with not much trouble. Now that I have room to see, it is impossible to mess up. You simply take the return line and attach it to the supply tube. Then the supply line gets reattached to the return on the backhoe. Problem...

1971 Case 580 CK with extendahoe

Thanks Sandy, cool to hear of another one. I was wondering the same thing. I’ll be rebuilding the dipper cylinder and the spool too. Was thinking I should check the extendahoe while I have everything off. The guy that will be helping me is knowledgeable about these old cases. I’m going to...

Thank you Tinker, the images help along with all the comments. The manual is straight forward and now I have a better grasp of what I’m doing. Going to attempt this in the morning. Will update everyone on how it goes.

    Dismounting Case 580 CK backhoe

Thank you GT1955, that’s what I’ll be doing, got all my blocking material ready so I can tackle this tomorrow morning. Definitely be careful since I haven’t done this before.
