    Any brand log trucks

Nice stick of wood . Looks like the crew got a little creative to load it on the truck . Hope the truck didn't end up broken .

What ever it was for will remain a mystery , but WD your correct . Probably stapled to a wooden spool . It must have been laying in the mud for many years , as the Harris Creek Camp was shut down around 1962 .

Hayes trucks in the logging industry

I have probably seen the bottom HD Hayes CPS (Canadian Puget Sound) #2133 on the road between Jordon River and Port Renfrew many times .

Hayes trucks in the logging industry

The Off Highway HD Hayes or WHD Hayes had a spring steel frame , unlike the HDX Hayes with an "I" beam frame . I have never been involved with purchasind a logging truck , But I would think the HDX Hayes would be a more expensive Logging Truck to purchase . Pictured is a WHD Hayes that was...

BC logging equipment left to rust

That Skidder finished that setting in the fall of 1964 or 65 . Changes were happening in the forest industry in the mid to late 1950's wooden spar trees and heal boom log loaders using tongs were being replaced with mobile log loaders using grapples . wooden spar trees were being replaced by...

My most humble apology's , I was being sarcastic about the leisure thing . When I was a "kid" , if you went to a gym after work to "work out" , the crew would have run you off for dragging your a$$ on the job.

Some of the toughest men I've known and worked with weren't necessarily big or tall in stature . But most men growing up of that generation were doing "chores" and "manual labour" from an early age . And didn't pay to work out in a modern gym in their leisure hours , if they had any .

That is a well built load , done by a loader that knew his stuff . It is also parked on a gravel surface , probably an industrial haul road through a camp . It looks a little high for clearance passing under Telephone and Hydro Lines .

George was a good man , If he wasn't busy keeping "his trucks" on the road , he was pulling wrenchs for someone else .

No response to this or a PM . I spent quite a few years in the Port Renfrew area and the only Phillips I recall is the family of George Phillips . I think George was originally from Vancouver . He went to work in a shop at a logging camp in one of the Inlets on the mainland coast of B.C. across...

    Any brand log trucks

Some outfits started out on a low budget , a little haywire with less than premium equipment . Some survived and prospered . Some went broke and fell to the way side or worst . To appreciate what these fellows accomplished with what they had to work with , one would have had to work through the...
