655C Backhoe Hydraulic Pressure Supply Line Repair

I’m happy to report that the 655C does in fact have some access panels in the floor of the cab. It has a rubber floor mat in it, so I never saw them and the thought completely escaped me that such a thing may exist. Thank you all for the time saver! In fact, I don’t think I could have gotten...

    CAT 963 - Right Machine?

My daughter has been out here with me through the whole process of buying the land, putting a driveway in, clearing and building a house. Since she was 6 years old. She’s been a hell of a trooper through it all. Used to fall asleep in the back seat of the truck at the land, more often than in...

    CAT 963 - Right Machine?

I did / I have. Put about 300 hours on the backhoe since the start of the project. It’s been a job, but it’s fun work. Gonna try to put the dam together myself too with the dozer above. And believe it or not, I’m doing this with a full time job, a 15 year old in high school sports, and I’m a...

    CAT 963 - Right Machine?

Thank you Gentlemen. I was guessing 44k. Working on finding someone to deliver it for me.

    CAT 963 - Right Machine?

I do have a burning question now though.. I have been able to convince a friend to loan me the CAT 963 I was originally banking on. Needing to get it hauled to my place soon. See the photo of the machine below. Can anyone help me identify this thing further? I beleive it's probably a 963B...

    CAT 963 - Right Machine?

Heard you all might be interested in an update... Lake is coming along! I got all the trees knocked down, got a logger to come get the sellable timber, and I’m almost finished pushing and burning limbs and leftover stumps, logs, etc. Moving along nicely!

655C Backhoe Hydraulic Pressure Supply Line Repair

Yeah, if I have to. Would rather repair the metal one if possible, but might have to go flexible

655C Backhoe Hydraulic Pressure Supply Line Repair

I fear I may have a big job ahead of me. I've got an early 90's 655C that has developed a hydraulic leak under the rear of the machine. Wanted to hear if anyone has removed the main metal backhoe pressure supply line that goes from the main filter and distribution manifold on the right side...

    Building a Lake

Looks like it sold today. Back to the ads! Thanks for all the input

    Building a Lake

All good info. I think the only question that matters right now though, is about the clutches. If the right track drive clutch is slipping (that's the only diagnosis I can think of here?) then is that adjustable to make it not slip? Or is that just indicative of a bad clutch? If it's a bad...

    Building a Lake

Yeah, I’ve pretty-much already written it off. Just wondered if there could be an adjustment that would fix this, that would be worth me trying.. Probably will head back to the marketplace ads though

You are correct. When pushing the left pedal, the machine stops moving. The right track seems to engage for about 1/2 second, then just feels like it disengages. I think the clutch on the right track is either out of adjustment? Or just gone and needs replaced.

    Building a Lake

Thanks for all the input guys. I probably should have tagged this conversation onto my previous thread about building my lake - a lot of these questions have already been addressed there. I was just trying to see if a 955 would be up to the task, or if the crowd would think it's too small. I...

    Building a Lake

Yeah, all the details are ironed out. Plenty of material available within a couple hundred yards of the dam - no dump truck required. Will a 955 push dirt? Clearly not as well as a straight blade dozer, I take it. But how less efficient are we talking - 20% less efficient? 50% less efficient?

    Building a Lake

I’m trying to put a lake together this summer, and looking for a well-used dozer / track loader to buy and do the job. I found a CAT 955L nearby that I’m going to go look at soon. I know you can move dirt fairly well with a track loader, but for a large lake dam, is it a good idea or should I be...
