    Paver shopping

Yeah I get it the mills are the same way. We weren’t huge fans of the control scheme on the Vogele’s either, it probably works good on roads but it was cumbersome on commercial work. We’d never even entertain a Lee boy, most of the municipalities in Michigan write their specs to not allow...

    Paver shopping

So we’re demoing a new Bomag 1030T and a Volvo P7110B. We mostly run cat and Roadtec pavers but we figured it was time to see what the other guys are offering these days. What are your guys thoughts?

    Cat ap555f vs Roadtec 175e

We have 3 - 1055’s, a 655, a 195e and a 175e. We were solid cat guys and drank the koolaid then we bought a Roadtec. Great machine, great parts department and the guardian system is awesome. Roadtec builds solid machines.

    Cat F model pavers

Not a fan, overly complicated and trying to make a Vogel which I also don't care for. Switched to roadtec after the D models and happy with them.

Caterpillar pm 102 : anyone have any experience with one?

They try but they don't know much, so sometimes you're on your own.

Caterpillar pm 102 : anyone have any experience with one?

They do okay, I like the wirtgen's better. They tend to be hard to work on and get parts for since they're a Italian machine.

    Volvo MT2000?

It's because they stopped making them and support is spotty. I've had to figure most stuff out myself. I'd pass unless you're really good working on your own stuff.

    Volvo MT2000?

They're not a bad machine but the controls are overly complicated as are the safety features. They use the same control box as the smaller mills and it takes some getting used to if you're used to using writgen products.

Reasonable life of a Cat CS - 433C vibratory compactor?

I generally try to sell them before 5000 hours. No point on risking a breakdown in the middle of a hot mat somewhere.

    Who is milling and where?

Lots and lots of walmarts and sam's clubs.

2012 Volvo DD 118 HFA - Good machines or headaches???

Depends on where you live. Where I'm at I can buy a dynapac from the factory but get no dealer support. In general the machine is built on the old IR roller concept and they're general not bad machines. Volvos in general I've had problems with hydraulic hoses for two reasons the first being...

    Volvo 6110 paver.

I have not been impressed with the 6110 model pavers. We've found them to be unreliable. The screed is generally a decent screed but the tractor is the problem.

    Scheduling Software

I run an asphalt company with 3 paving crews and two dirt crews and we currently whiteboard the schedule. Is anyone using anything else to schedule multiple crews? I've been playing with google calendar but it's not exactly what I like. Appreciate and info you guys share.
