    good to hear she fired up, did you check the radiator to see if water was circulating in radiator, i had a cat30 that kept overheating turned out to be the impeller stuck, the fan was turning on shaft she got hot enough to drop the valve seats. alan

    goldtrigger. if you have a tractor with remote hydraulics connect hose to lift cylinder to lift bucket. i would first turn crankshaft via the fan might have to tension belts .engine stops in same spot on flywheel (1 in 4) , teeth more than likely rounded if starter spins but does not engage...

    have just been browsing all of your threads congrats on your purchase. pity about the block being cracked, tip for you when welding cast when grinding crack or broken parts carbon is brought to the surface and must be filled off with hand held file. then pre heat and i prefer to mig weld...

    had the same thing happen to me,a month ago small earth moving company needed a driver for late model hitachi 175hp dozer for 20 machine hours, like yourself only operated old machines and told the owner so . he said he would stick around for a hour or two and see how i would go 15 minutes...
