    Stump bucket

I have to agree. I have a 15 ton excavator and have absolutely pushed it to the limits with a white oak stump that was 5-6' across. The tree was about 18" in diameter. I can't imagine a stump bucket being able to get deep enough, and sever all of the roots, let alone get in a position to...

    Takeuchi CTL recommendations

1 month ago, I bought a 2012 TL230 with 1500 hrs. I was a little skeptical because it was originally a rental machine. I got it with a bucket, grapple and forks. Radio didn't work (fuse) and the heat and AC didn't work (again fuse near battery for AC). I've run Bobcats, Cats and Gehl. I...

    Track drive preference

I'm in the market for a CTL and right now, need to keep my investment <$25k. I know features I want, but am struggling with track drive style - sprocket drive or "cage" drive (like ASV or Cat xx7 models). For fear of opening a can of worms, ASV claims the open drive system is self cleaning...

Looking at used excavators makes my head spin......

I just completed a 1000 ft driveway across the side of a hill to our new home. I have a 15T 205LC machine, Ford 9000 single axle and an antique IH 500 dozer. The truck has a Cummins big cam II and tire chains. The completed driveway is a 10% grade (best I could do). It started at 20%. I've...

    Bucket pin shim sources.

PEEK is another bearing material that I use at work. It is very durable and has low friction properties. I originally learned about its use in Dresser Rand compressors. They used PEEK in the valve plates. It would stand up to pieces of weld slag impacting it and the particles would embed...

    International 500

Yes, what epirbalex said...the brake band should have a steel plate with a 5/8 hole welded to the brake band. The hole goes over the pin in the bottom of the clutch housing and isolates the band so it can't become self-energizing. If the hole gets worn and/or the pin is not square on the end...

    International 500

Need more info. "it will spin circles" - are you saying that one steering clutch will stick but only when in reverse? "It will pop out of reverse by moving the tractor forward" - that's what it's supposed to do! Please be more specific.

    Loose Bucket Teeth

My situation is different, as my teeth are ESCO 30S. When mine are loose and fines get in them, they put too much pressure on the lock and retainer and the rubber gets destroyed quickly. I spent 8 hrs welding the shanks and then grinding to get a good tight, zero movement fit. I then built up...

    Hitachi EX 120 front idler

John C., I don't know hours on clock. Yes, the gap is between the sides of the blocks and the frame, nearly 1/2" on each side. Without the track on, you can twist the idler about 5 degrees. I guess it just seemed excessive to me.
