big excavators in the street? pictures?

That is an impressive set up. It does seem a bit over kill but I guess it would be better to have that out there than three or four 330's or something......

    Cat 262B steering blind spot

Nice work Rebeldude. I'll be honest, I was too lazy to do the whole write up. Do you happen to work for a dealer?

    Just bought 06 cat 226b

Close... Here in Canada (at least my part of the country), factory fill is Cat DEO 10w30 for engine oil. I see that you are in Sask. so I would consider making the change. Guys with deep pockets run 5w40 synthetic.

    Engine change CAT 262

True, most guys toss them, I just didn't know what your budget was so I suggested it. FWIW Take your bumper off and that will make the job easier. Some guys take off the coolers but it can be done with them in you just need to sneek your goose neck engine hoist in there. As far as that engine...

    Cat 262B steering blind spot

BruceJ, Remove the plastic console by taking out the 4 screws that hold it in; the 4 screws are on the side of the steel bracket that supports the control and valving. It takes some wiggling but the console will come out. You will now be able to see your pilot lines and the control valve...

    Engine change CAT 262

Shouldn't have much trouble doing a swap yourself. Make sure you support the pumps, it will make life easier putting the engine back in. I can't quote you an engine price though... What about rebuilding it?

    Peterbilt Lowbed tractor

Sorry, I am not familiar with a "split tank". The wet kits I have seen usually have a plastic or sometimes steel tank behind the cab. Keep in mind I work on off highway equipment and I am still an apprentice. Therefore, my truck experience is limited to whatever I see on the highway or when a...

Great pics. What is the small tank (behind exhaust stack) for? Does this unit have a wet kit?

    D7R Bad Operator?

Interesting thread. I am a mechanic not an operator, so I won't pretend I know how to operate... That said, I do get to see the results of operator abuse (neglect) and the costs associated with them. How many chances do you give someone that beats your machines to death?

    Playing in the dirt

My mom (if you knew her you would understand) wouldn't put a sandbox outside because "cats and dogs would poop in it". So instead, she had my dad put one in our basement and filled it with rice. My iron never rusted......:D

    Cat 953 won't start

Check for the obvious first. Battery voltage? Loose or damaged connections? Then you can start isolating the issue....... I personally suspect that starter.....

    Chucky Bars?

Yeah, I have only heard of them refered to as "Chocky Bars". Sacrificial steel is all it is.......
