Looking to get a manual for a CAT 420D. I see there is a Manual I and Manual II.

Anyone have information on what is in each and a reputable seller online?

Thanks,

J.C.

The Cat Publication reference is RENR3570.
The paper version (List price $1675) consists of two folders because there is too much paper to fit in one.
Also available on CD @ $1100.
Here's a link to a reputable seller - https://www.servicemanualpro.com/?page=Products&searchbox=FDP21453

And here's a link to an eBay seller for substantially less than new. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2545624454...efaultOrganicWeb&_trksid=p2047675.c101224.m-1

If you find someone offering both volumes together make sure to ask if they are complete. There are a number of separate documents in each folder. At the front of each volume should be a single-page contents list that the seller can refer to in order to check that everything is there. A complete Service Manual will contain an Operation & Maintenance Manual in addition to full-size fold-out Electrical & Hydraulic Schematics.

Sorry, never answered your question about exactly what's in each volume of the manual. Dunno.........but all manuals are basically the same layout. They contain technical information broadly grouped into various categories. Specifications, Test & Adjust, Disassembly & Assembly, & Troubleshooting are the most common ones.
There may be any or all of the above for each system in the machine. The illustration below shows how they appear electronically, in a paper manual the layout may be a bit different. Some, like "Machine Arrangement" may not be there at all.
