Man, @cw4Bray , that little plane looks like it'd be a ton of fun! Neat!
Aig, A Onex is a hoot to fly - but getting 80 hp. out of a 36 hp. engine is quite a stretch, you can never have enough power when the trees are coming up at the end of a runway. A automotive engine is a poor substitute / compromise for a 100 year old certified aircraft engine. I can't take credit for building this one, I'm in awe of the original builder, in today's era of instant gratification, three or four years build time and the risk of losing all interest in the project altogether before complete, also the investment expense vs. purchasing a completed model, it doesn't pencil out. I've done work on planes then flown them, so I know that finishing a project feels wonderful and that's why I'm in awe of all these gorgeous projects others have done.

I've helped on a couple of Lancair IV's, but never did ride in either one. If I were to try something it would certainly be a fast build kit.

It's all bark, just a 325hp 396 that I put an airgap dual plane intake on with a Holley 850hp carb. Cam is a Comp 284H hydraulic flat tappet. Sounds just right!
