gotcha. i guess you'd have to have something like asbestos to handle the high heat. my grand dad has an old pair of asbestos welding gloves, he says they handle the heat like no other, just don't breathe around them!

What kind of demo is going on?

Have you been busy? If so, what kind of work? Schools and stuff are usually big during the summer.

Here's a video of pulling down the second of (3) 40 ft. steel towers, which we did last summer. Used a 130 ft. x 5/8 steel cable and my 450-J dozer

the most exciting part was catching my pant leg on fire while using the demo saw 12 inches from the top edge when setting the cable

Here's a few pics of the tanks after they were down. Took a week to prep them as we had to grind off hundreds of 3/4" bolts from the flange around the base and cut a few holes for cables.

Actually took the longest to cut them up into truck sized loads for scrap

Looks like they built some pretty fancy new houses right next to those tanks. No wonder the NIMBY's wanted them down.

Dynamiting a 100' concrete chimney photos

Here are some photos of a 100' tall concrete chimney that we dynamited. The chimney walls were 1' thick at the base and had a fire brick liner on the inside. The chimney was originally 170' tall. The brick building next to it is the boiler building which was still in use. There was a natural gas tank about the length of a semi trailer about 125' from the stack.

I never remembered to post these, the city started off with their New Holland, but quickly ealized they were in over their head and called my buddy to assist them. Cause of the fire was never put out publicly....everyone had their own idea of what might have happened. But thats not for here, the rush was on, FD knew there was fire trapped between the walls on both sides, and was very concerned that it could quickly become un-manageable.
