My sisters husband went out side one morning this summer to find the IH truck he had bought not long ago was burnt up. It was hooked to a grain trailer but it wasnt hurt. The cab was gutted but it didnt burn the drive tires witch was something because it was a short single axle truck. My brother was about a 1/2 mile from his farm and saw the guy next door had started a fire and it spread to the grass heading to is farm. When he got home his trailer was burning he was able to get the truck out from under it.

Been redone several times-That early airliner suspension was a spring cracking pos. But not bad shape overall from the photos.

Actually it was in there, we took some spacers out and 1 leaf out of the front spring pack to lower it a little and make it look right. It still feels like you are going up hill sitting in there with that good seemingly sloping back but even at that I like the visibility compared to the newer cabs just fine. It is a 3408B, truck is 22,500 lbs with 11,500 on the steers! It got about 4.7 mpg at 96,000 lbs, didn't seem bad to me compared to stories I have heard about those.

Front axle weight with 3408 or KTA is usually at 11,500, it was one of the bad points to the large displacement engines back then. Depending on sleeper and fuel tank size the
steer axle was maxed out on weight. There weren't that many OTR's that ran those engines. Now With that said-Gayle the other main shop guy in the shop had Two Pete's
with 3408's one 359 EXHD and one C.O.E. 362 that was experimental. The cab on the cabover was slightly taller and the radiator was big and shoe horned into place. I use to
work on one that had a 110" sleeper and I had to change the radiator in that one, what a job. But I have never seen a C.O.E. K100 KW with a 3408.

Wow, that's nuts. This one has a rebuilt 18 speed, rebuilt 46,000lb rearends on rebushed AG 460 Kenworth 8 bag suspension, front axle rebuilt, all new hydraulic wet kit for side dump or lowbed, new diamond tuck interior by the same guy that originally did it in 79, there ain't much on it that didn't get replaced or rebuilt including reskinning the back of the cab. All new plumbing and wiring outside the cab, some inside but the dash was pretty much left alone. The only thing we didn't tear down was the motor, just resealed a bunch of stuff on it when it was out. The thing was built for the long haul but won't rack up very many miles because it rains to much around here!
