Looks to me like an old Mountain Logger, There have been several 6v53's listed in the NW on CL. The 6V53 was common in a Mountain Logger, most who operated them --can't hear.

Got to looking thru listings, a Mountain Logger is a Weiler machine nowadays, First number on data plate should be model a 250 and will range around 40K in weight. As stated a Chunk of Iron. Will need a REAL lowboy and a strong winch to move that.

Thanks guys, I was thinking around 36k. Seen a dozer and some other equipment at another persons house next to it with little cash I’m sure I could convince them to pull it up, just make a place to put snatch block and up it goes. Another problem is most equipment trailers are pintle which means I need to fabricate a pintle hitch to bolt on.

Believe will need more than a pintle set up
Most likely will need a low deck fifth wheel equipment trailer
Seen a few 20T pintle though not taking the 5th wheel lowboy off the table yet. Problem with most low decks is just that low deck that would high center going up the ridge which I will refer to as the last 3 miles. I can haul everything to Montana, but that last 3 miles home is what stops a lot. If it rained or snowed in past 72 hours to 96 hours it's not happening on getting up with anything other than a deuce and half military truck or a 4 x 4 vehicle.
Need to find me a staging point out there so if stuff happens I can leave it till I can get up there.

About that skidder I’m supposed to drag back to Montana, has a 6v53 that’s blown, the guy is giving a V6 Cummins to replace it, but I might sell it for another 6v53 or do a rebuild. Anywho, don’t know the make model or weight of it, anyone want to take a gander at it?View attachment 225973View attachment 225974View attachment 225975View attachment 225976

I wish someone would give me a skidder. I'm just a shade jealous. I dont really have a use for one, but I would still drag it home and tinker with it.

Skidders run some ROUGH duty, Shotgun seat and rough terrain while loaded as a b*****d mule. Hard machines to keep together after a dozen or so years beaten on. Would OH the 53 series, makes MORE noise and wear Muffs while using!!

Don't worry I would wear ear plugs I have bag of them that I wear even when running a circular saw.

Kida looks like it needs more than just a engine. Radiators are spendy.
Actually the person who is giving it away has one going to go with it.

Welp I was supposed to pick the backhoe up, but seems everything went sideways. Ramps gave out on one side and bent so now I need to build new ones. Just what I need, more projects

Remind me again how many people suggested you might need a heavier trailer? Buy once, cry once.....:)

Don't worry though spud, I've tried to cut corners because I was on a budget too. I guess anymore I just buy older and heavier vs. newer and lighter, to try to get the price where I need it to be. Keep working though - WINTER IS COMING!!!!!!

Main reason I bought one this one trailer was the length, I needed all 40' for my shipping container 5th wheel and all the other shipping containers I plan on hauling out. Trailer can hold it, just the ramps gave out. Heavier trailer coming up in the summer of next year "I think" except this will be a TAG trailer. If this trailer can't hold a 10k lb. piece of equipment it shouldn't be holding 9.5k lb. shipping container on the back.

Just remember the ID Tag GVWR on it when load it, and what the tires will handle.
Oh I do plus got to remember I am farm registered at max of 50k lbs., the trailer is 26k lbs. GVWR trailer empty it is 9k lbs. so that leaves 17k lbs to be loaded on. Which means if I were to grab another trailer for the skidder I would be over my registered weight just with skidder and semi not including trailer.
