Well that Pete is a OTR rig far from a dump truck, as far as I'm concerned any truck with heavy specs is ok for a dump. All those rigs do is get used and abused rode hard and put up wet.
Your talking two totally different vocations. For over the road the tractor and trailer can't be much over 31,000 then add full tanks of fuel. You need too be able to haul at least 45,000 to
47,000 net or 22 boards. And that's with a 36" plus king pin setting on the trailer. And that's just a GVW of 80,000. These tractors with super sized sleepers run 20,000 to 23,000 lbs
before trailer most can only net 40,000 lbs. Pretty worthless.
You can still buy all the cab, hood, fenders and any interior parts for that Pete, in those days a truck was built to rebuild and continue running. My old 1966 Pete was completely redone
mechanically. In 1966 it came with a 335 Cummins, 5x4 gear boxes and SQHD rear drives and manual steering, I changed it over to a BCIII 400 with a 14613 spd 3:73 SQ100's on
Pete Air Leaf with outside frame steering from a 82 Pete 359. Other than it being old it would run day in and day out pulling a American 46'6" X 96" refer trailer with a net of 47,800.
And I know you guys are tired of seeing this old critter.
