Does this help..?
I know there are some members on here who have experience of DPF cleaning, especially in respect of what materials, fluids, etc, etc must NOT go near it under any circumstances once it is disassembled. Hopefully they will chime in and help.

I took it to a national chain that specializes in cleaning them. CAT wants $1,700 for a reman (a cleaned filter) and $3,200 for a new one. It should be done Friday. I asked them to take before and after pictures. It will cost around $500.

Was it clogged?

I pulled a 5000 hour DPF because the Caterpillar computer in my 336E demanded it. Very little discoloration, and I could blow air through it easily. The before and after numbers for flow were darned near the same.

I didn't take it apart to check. I sure as hell hope it is clogged.
