Channellock pliers

Sooooo, I had to borrow a pair today, have the 460's, needed the Bigazz 480 size.
Now, what ones to buy, the 480's or get the big curved jaw ones? I was installing the fuel sending unit on the polaris ranger....the 480's did the job, but wondering if the curved jaw style would be more usefull in the long run.

Strongly considering just buying both as I absolutely hate to borrow a tool.

A big fan of knipex cobra pliers. No getting pinched with them rascals

I have a pair of the largest Knipex Cobras and a pair of the 480s. I find the curved jaws on the Cobras to be more useful.

Get both. One of the last American independently owned tool companies left. Those blue handled beauties ain’t no Knipex. I’ll grab my Cobra before I’ll grab the Channells, but I’ll buy those blue pliers just to keep those good folks in Meadville employed.

Plus, the DeArment family are big supporters of career and technical education and the SkillsUSA (VICA) organization.

Another vote for Knipex. I don’t think they make anything as big as the 480, but they’re the best pliers I’ve ever used.

While I've loved all my Channellock pliers over the years, Knipex Cobras are a far superior product. Their high leverage diagonal cutters are top of the food chain as well.

The 22” Cobras are equivalent if not a little larger but are also twice the price but boy howdy do they grip like crazy.

Good to know - I thought the 480 claimed to have a bigger jaw opening.

Regardless, I’ll be spending the extra money on Knipex when the time comes to buy new pliers.

They might have a slightly larger jaw opening I’ve never compared them that way but really at that max size jaw opening is not as useful to me as actual gripping ability. I use my knipex for cylinder glands and very stuck oil filters mostly
