2007 Summer, Sahara desert. In a region out of GSM and satellite phone coverage. I was there for assembly and trainings for 2 weeks. Briefly, it's the extension of Great Man Made River Project, there are big lakes under the sand, they pump lake water thru giant pipes (each prestressed concrete pipe 20 tons with 4 metres diameter). PC1250 's worked for the preparation of "pipeline ground bed"DSC01765.JPG DSC01773.JPG DSC01775.JPG DSC00844.JPG DSC01765.JPG DSC01773.JPG DSC01775.JPG DSC00844.JPG

Yes welcome Kartal !
Love the pictures.

Odd to see such a big wheel loader without a cab. Maybe they just hadn’t installed it yet ?

Hi, DB2, yes exactly. We had to unload the units from the low bed truck urgently.

Yes. Upon closer inspection it all makes sense. That cutting edge still has it’s factory coat of paint.

Thanks again for sharing.

Wish you had more photos to share. Assembly of big beasts are really cool, they also help us with smaller machine recognize how ours come apart and with the right equipment.... we can fix ours. If you have more photos to share that would be awesome.

Welcome to HEF Kartal !
It really nice to see how its done in Libya !
Do you have any photos of the project ?
Is it completed or still ongoing ?
Thanks, Tinkerer. It's already completed, it was the 380 km extension to "Great Man Made River", phase 3. I've some photographs of the pipes, but better detailed ones are available in internet, you can Google with "Great man made river". Total budget is 27 billion USD, the biggest engineering project in the world.
