I went by Lake Lemare Logging shop for taking pictures. I afsked the boss for permission to take pictures of their equipment but sadly I was denied to take any pictures. While talking to the boss my sister took a few pictures from our van - good sister. I hope someone Else gets permission to take some pictures cause LLL got a lot of big off highway trucks. Most are P16 but they have a few KW as well. I am not sure if they have some Hayes left. I could not see any but there might be some parked behind 645DB503-6D84-456A-82DB-3500FDC5FEA3.jpeg D978FA33-BF2C-4090-8BAE-B075E8B58D5D.jpeg 0CB2BC69-CD59-4FD1-965B-ECFB052F78BE.jpeg the shop where most of the trucks are parked. Great place to visit if you get a permission.

Thank you Hank R, Truck Shop and John Shipp and more,
From my first visit to British Columbia in 1980, I must admit I was completely fascinated by the logging industry, where especially the big off highway logging trucks have had a very special place in my heart. And it was no less so in the year 2000 when I for the first time had the right time to explore Vancouver Island, where I among others met “Mr. Hayes ”(HDX). His enthusiasm and knowledge of Hayes trucks in particular, but also other logging truck makes, set me the goal of trying to find and photograph as many Hayes and other off highway logging trucks as possible before it was too late. (The production of the big off highway logging stopped in the mid-80s and Hayes even as early as 1975)
I have since visited Vancouver Island on several occasions and I have met lots of lovely and interesting people as well as taken thousands of truck pictures which I hope others have and can enjoy among others here on this forum.
And the weird thing is that now, 20 years later, after my first real visit to Vancouver Island, there are still some off highway logging trucks that are operational even though it is getting very defficult to get spare parts for them. So, my mission is not yet accomplished - I have to go back to The Island.. Sorry I have an addiction - OFF HIGHWAY LOGGING TRUCKS....

I'm just like you Hayesno1, I went for my first ride in a truck trailer rig in 1963 at the ripe old age of eight. I caught the bug and it never went away. Below is a picture of what
I rode in for my first ride. She was a true Queen in her day owned by Nello PistoreKenworth 1960s - Nello Pistoresi and Son.jpg si and driven by his son Corky, they had a nice fleet. Sorry for the use of the photo but it is
the only one I have ever found of their rigs.

Push to apply, pull to release on the Sealco truck and trailer valves.

I remember my dad taking me places in an ancient Ford C-series truck that had a chrome knob in the center of the dashboard the same way. Reach up and bop the thing down with your fist when you wanted to park.

Hayesno1, in post 1782, this summer LH15 looked a bit healthier for having a complete set of wheels on, is the truck still getting use from what you could see? Cheers.

Thanks for the pictures.I remember taking one when it was brand new at Naka out to pull a lowbed up Cederstat hill in the late 70s,couldnt say wether it was H15 though. It was a cool for me as a shop guy to get that opportunity. I think the company had 2 P16 s at Naka Creek and three up at Lyell I in the late 70 s and 80s . Wonder where the others got to?

I think she is still in operation but I am not sure. Pictures were taken just outside of Campbell River.
