Now it's the over reach that comes into affect. Enough fools and wrecks caused by stupidity means the regulations will get tougher than anybody wants. Spectacular wrecks that hit the media mean someone wasn't doing their job and someone, usually everyone but the problem person, has to pay the price.
I do have a bone to pick on the medical cards though as I think they are another scam to milk money from. My last two physicals did not involve a doctor at all. It was a PA that asked me a couple of questions after a urine sample and a nurse put me through sight, phony hearing test and a blood pressure test with a defective cuff. Both times the nurse running the blood pressure test gave me the worried issue with blood pressure when I told her my son in law was a nurse with a master's degree. He told me to not to accept any high blood pressure reading from any automated cuff that wasn't followed up by a manual check. The lady had a little smirk and did the test showing 122 over 76. Since the card is good for two years and high blood pressure would mean a mandatory one year card my guess is that they want you back next year at another $100. When I got the card there was supposedly a doctor's signature attesting to my good health. The PA didn't have a name anywhere, accept on the bill. I'm sure there was no doctor on the premises when I was there.
My regular doctor is not allowed to sign the card because he refused to pay the fee to the state, not because he isn't qualified.
