Agreed Rarity doesn't assure value, there are exceptions to every rule. This forum however, demonstrates the grizzly is not one of those exceptions, in my opinion. I expect the interest shown at the starting price will back me up.

Just a little update......I have about 1200 miles on the truck now and all is well.It is running very good and the mileage seems to be very good.I haven't actually done the math on it yet...
Still sorting through a few little things but nothing major.I am ordering the parts tomorrow to put a disc brake parking brake on the back of the transfer case.
I am going to have to park it for a while as I need to pull the dash again .I think we are in for a lot of rain this April so maybe soon...

The truck draws a huge amount of attention.Everything from thumbs up,waving and hanging out the window taking pictures.Lots of questions and lots of people asking to take pics along with finger pointing and people saying holy **** and WTF is that......Its all good...

As far as the comments above.....Currently Flat fender Dodge Power wagons are fetching north of 100K US and have been for a few years.First gen Bronco's are also north of 100K US...Last 3 Diamond T pick-ups to go through Barrett Jackson were north 0f 70KUS...Some of you may know I also own a 1936 Diamond T and two vintage Mustangs..The blue book/Nada guide is for people who don't have a clue what they are looking at or know anything about...Its a guide for the ill informed......Its just a guide.

And yes...Rare does not mean valuable..I had a 1939 Canadian Dodge.Very rare and few built.Car really wasn't worth anything tho...

Grizzly value vs new trucks...there are many of us who do not embrace computer technology in new cars/trucks...We do not want rubber tired computors.I do not have to pull the cab to service the engine .I am a mechanic not a electronics tech. There is a reason why Gen 1 Cummins trucks are sought after.
The US market would pay a very nice sum for my truck.....JMO..............Corygrizzly 003 (108).JPG

I had a 68 Bronco that needed some work (mostly new bushings for the steering to make it road worthy) and I had to sell it for next to nothing. Just didn't have the resources to finish it after spending a bunch on it. Put a Hurst floor shifter in it. Much better than the 3 on the tree. I think the 100K Bronco's are complete frame off restorations. The most famous Bronco (body anyway) is Big Oly that set the Baja 1000 record. Last I read Parnelli Jones still owns it. There were 2 or 3 of the same style. I would bet it's worth North of 500K.

Just because something sells at Barrett-Jackson for a retarded price with a bunch of million and billionaires that are heavily oiled up does not mean much. You can buy very nice first gen Broncos that have had frame up Restorations for 30 grand and the flat Fender Power Wagons, I have never seen one over 40k. That is like saying my 55 Chevy is worth a quarter million dollars. It might have that in it, but it is not worth it.

In the end it is the buyer's money and if they feel like spending it by all means go ahead, just do not do it thinking you are making an investment. Recreation costs money and if you want to recreate you are going to pay.

Prices get exaggerated all the time but I think a Grizzly would command a higher price. Barrett Jackson has some decent deals on the lower end stuff but with the huge buyer and seller premiums I don't know why people would sell their lower end cars there. There are other auctions like RM Sotheby's that sellers of high end prefer instead of the spectacle of BJ. In the case of this beautiful yellow Grizzly made better than new he's got a way better truck than he could ever get from a dealer and wouldn't lose money if he ever decided to sell it.

You brought up you didn't think the other Grizzly that needed work was worth 22K. I would guess Cory's is worth at least what he put into it unlike some other vehicles where owners have spent a fortune and get pennies on the dollar when sold.

You are right and I still don't believe it is worth 22k. Honestly if somebody really wanted it and was big into that pickup I would say 10 at most.

I hear that Grizzly in Qualicum Beach has found a new home and hope that it gets the same TLC that Cory gave to his. I am fairly sure it will and be around many more years.

I've been off this site for some time now but truly enjoyed seeing the pic of the finished product you produced just now. As one of the guys who sat around with Geoff at Eden Lake and developed the concept back in 1986-87 I enjoy seeing the Grizzly still alive and well. Sort of wish Geoff was too. Great job!

Take care.

One of the jobs still on the list is dealing with the box floor...Sprayed on rubber 30 years ago that has lifted in numerous places and refuses to come off in others.I have chosen to just cover it with a mat.Due to its odd measurements and the fact that I removed the rusty wheel tubs I have to kind of fab one up.I am taking two full size matts rotating them 90 and cutting them up.Spent about 3 hrs today doing the first pc.It covers 3/4 of the floor.Second pc is a simple rectangle.......

All the rusty metal was heavily coated with POR 15 paint quite a while ago..

B2E78B87-1B28-45E2-BD2B-F946C315EF76.jpeg The Qualicum Grizzly arrived at its new home in Alberta this morning. A very big thank you to Brad Hagen of Steel Wheels Transport and Hotshot from Merritt for hauling it out for me from the Island.

I have a lot of work ahead of me to get this truck back to what it deserves to be but I’m looking forward to the challenge.

First order of business is to get it running, then it’ll be on to the restoration.
