New thread because the other became cluttered.

The rails arrived Wednesday the 30th in at 4:00 pm. And so far the engine bay is cut in both rails
and 98 holes drilled with a Hougen Mag drill. The rails were perfectly formed-right on the money
each 30' long which will give me a 280" wheel base also right on the money. I should have them
finished and painted by Thursday given the steering box mounting goes well. I pre-made all the
crossmembers and those line up perfectly. So it should be a fairly quick bolt up with members,
mounts, suspension and axles. I will post photos when frame is bolted together.

Look like a very interesting project. I must have missed the other thread. What year? what is it going to be? I look forward to following along.

Hey, I found it. Yep, that will be a cool one when finished. Carry on.

Thats good looking work. Are you doing the layout for holes off by transfering off the old frame rails or from plans? I ask because i had shortened an 850 ford for a dump box last summer,i patterned the 4 saddles induvidually and measured the rest ,rather than wrestle the axle in twice . that was a bit of a challenge but came out well. Doing the whole frame looks daunting. Keep up the good work.

I'm using some gloss black from Napa that's industrial paint. The layout for bolt holes is partly from old rails but some of it is new design. I changed out a right side rail on
a 2001 Pete some years back total time was 16 hours start to finish using a blank PacCar rail. I like frame work I guess, I've lengthened 72 over the years. I made up and
drilled all of the crossmembers before I ordered the rail, it all lines up.

All the bolt holes that can be pre-done are finished and rails painted. Built a power steering gear mount that incorporates the bolts for the left rear engine mount.
Installed the front frame horns, rear spring hangers and front cab mounts. Should get the crossmembers in and rear suspension mounts this week. Then build
the mounts to frame horns to support original radiator crossmember.

The frame is darn near complete now. All crossmembers and rear suspension mounts are in, the only thing I'm working on right now is the radiator support.
As soon as the snow clears away I will drag the springs, font axle and rear axle housings in and install. I will post some photos tomorrow.
Clyde is a happening place.

Yeah, going to look at a new to us motorhome, Those drylanders keep that kind of stuff stored indoors. It looks really nice in the email pics. Not far from the old school house site.
