Free equipment tracking app

Hey guys,

I’m an assistant equipment manager and IT person with a large construction company and I developed an equipment tracking app. One issue I’ve had is that there aren’t any cheap options for tracking, and the few available are desktop-based, often only accessible in the office on a company network. GPS is great and we've got it on about half our fleet now but we still need a way to track everything on one board. In order to keep everything as up-to-date as possible, all employees- truck drivers, project managers and others- need to be able to update the system throughout the day.

My app is free for basic tracking and equipment features. Eventually, I plan to add premium features for a monthly fee. At work, we track equipment maintenance, parts, warranties, notes and scheduling on an app I've developed. It also integrates with CAT, Deere, Volvo and other telematics systems to automatically move equipment based on GPS coordinates.

At this point, I would love some beta testers to check it out, and let me know their thoughts. You can create accounts for, and set access privileges for each employee. Again, all of the current features are/will remain free, and premium/paid features will be added down the road.

Check it out here: http://www.ivosystems.com/

If you have any issues or ideas, post in forum or send me a PM. Also, I can import your data for you if you have lists of your equipment and jobs.

Thanks,

Bob

A long time and respected member reported this post with the comment "sounds fishy." That is appreciated. We do follow up on reported posts, and many times find that the member's concerns are valid, and we delete the garbage.

From what little information is available to me here on HEF, I can tell you that the IP that the above post was made from is connected with a large construction firm located in the USA. Also, as the Forum Rules allow one introductory post, such as this one, NelsonL is not in violation of the rules here. I did follow the link, and it leads to a registration page. I didn't go any further than that.

I'd be inclined to take the post at face value. Proceed from here at your own discretion...

I know anything "free" sounds fishy, especially in this industry but I want people to be able to use it in order to see its value.

Or, I'll be even more cynical. Targeted advertising. If they know where you're from, what kind of machines you run, etc, that info is very valuable. No thanks, I'll pass.

Everything that is free now will remain free. Free users don't cost me anything. My thought is that if people like it, they'll probably end up telling someone else about it. I hate free trials.

I understand protecting your data. I built the application originally for the company I'm working for because we didn't want to use one of the mixed fleet options from Deere or CAT for that reason. I built the app because I've found it useful, I enjoy making web apps and I think others will find it useful. I'm not collecting any data about your company, all that's needed to sign up is your email address. Thanks for looking.

While I was waiting for the hoe to warm up this morning, I checked HEF here and saw your reply. As I've been sitting here digging, I thought, this guy has been pretty upfront, and replying when we post, maybe this isn't a sham, lol. So, I went back and re-read your original post, and now I have some questions. First off, attaching the GPS of a machine to a third party app is not something I will ever be interested in, I wish our hoe didn't have GPS tracking in the first place. But, if I understand correctly, this app allows you to record anything you do to a machine? I will assume you can differentiate between machines by multiple methods such as serial number, unit number, etc? If this is all the case, I actually think I might have a use for something like this, as long as it has a few other capabilities. Can you record details particular to a certain machine, such as filter numbers, capacities, fuel usage, stuff like that?

Right now I don't have the equipment maintenance features active because I want to work with users to make sure I'll have all the features people want. You could make notes on the detail page for each machine for now. Mainly the features I've got up right now are related to location tracking. I could have the maintenance features up in a week or so. I'll respond with more detail later tonight.

Hey guys!

The project is still going strong. I left the company I was working for in April to focus on this. The senior estimator and project manager from the same company has also joined, bringing experience from the engineering and estimating side of the business.

I've attached a bunch of screen shots from inside the app. All of our software is built to be mobile friendly and usable in the field. Timecards and the project management features are newer and we are still hoping to get feedback from users. Time can be exported into a format you can import into your accounting software.

I'm still offering free access to the site, just send me a message on this forum after you sign up at https://www.ivosystems.com/main/register/ and I can give you access to more features.

Thanks for looking. :)
