Hayes trucks in the logging industry

This is Bill Forresters truck, Although he lives in Nanoose Bay, He was asked by Harry to park it at the Blackstaffs place beside the antique shop he has there. I will get his son (31KW) on here to jump in and fill in the blanks. When new it was a Beban Truck. 1935 Hayes Anderson. He also has a tandem trailer for it. Up until a couple years ago he would drive it all the way from Nanoose to Nanaimo for the parades there.

Thx HDX. It looks like a real classic and must have been a "looker" in its day. It's a shame that it's not under cover down at Harry's place. What with no doors on either side, rainwater seems to be taking a terrible toll as the seat and floor is slowly disappearing. I look forward to hearing from 31KW on the backstory. Cheers.

I remember as a young kid riding in a Frank Beban Truck up at Gardner Canal in 1973. I was second loading and would ride in with the driver on the last load .It was an an HDX ,But without planetarys 4640s i i think. One thing i remember is the that new car smell that truck had as it was probably a72 0r 73 . Some years later up in the Charlottes i remember heading out in the woods in the welding truck and having a near miss on a steep hill with the same truck. I was pulled over and watched in my rear view as it didnt make the corner and flipped . logs flying and wheels spinning as i ran back to see if the driver was ok. He was upside down in a deep ditch . The driver crawled out , shaken but ok. We spent a month or so and Straightening things back out and back on the road she went. Ive often wondered where that truck ended up. It was a testement to how tough these trucks were.

Some pictures I took of her in 2005 in Duncan. Please can someone tell me what the 2 set of plates that is welded to the bumper was used for? There is drilled a small hole in all four plates. I have seen this configuration on other logging trucks.

HI mountain Yes this is my fathers 1935 Hayes Anderson bought new by Stoltz logging they went to work for Frank Beban we think and in the end beban ended up with it. Harry and Jimmy Blackstaff are to be credited with saving it as it was on some property around ladysmith when the property got sold the new owners pushed it over a bank to get rid of it but it hung up on a stump she wouldn't die lol. Harry made a deal with bill and home she came motor was seized and bill got it freed up and running with out taking engine out in fact nothing has come out all freed up and running. We don't know if the brackets are for a a frame to hold the wooden reach as they were really long u can see some of the CZ ladysmith trucks on this site with the same long reaches. As for the outside rain and all it has never been undercover in its life and most of the rust was always there would love it to be undersomething thou. We think it used to have a full cab and doors on it but some where in its life got a repair on back of cab. We will get to it maybe this year and get her prettied up we promise it bugs us too. We are going to get the hayes Anderson trailer down and plopped on the back would look really good. Anymore questions just ask I don't come on much but will start Larry

Thank you for information and explanation "1931 Kenworth". It makes sence. I wonder if it was some kind of CZ thing. I have a picture of an Hayes HDX that had the same kind of brackets. Unit #40-60
