I will go through some pictures and see if I have another picture of her. The distinct front bumper markings tend to identify them. I wish I could have kept a closer eye on these trucks as they neared the end at Menzies Bay because they were very different and served their masters well. They like every other off highway truck had their followers and a mutual admiration society.

It could be H435 but I have been wrong several times before. Why I guess it is H435 is the watertank with the curved iron on top making the sadle for the reach. HDX you are right about the distinct front bumper markings but I have seen pictures of the same truck with 2 different bumper markings which has confused me...

Driver Harry Cross with one of the CL350 Mack demonstrator trucks that went from Division to Division back when Mack was trying to introduce these trucks to the forest industry on the coast

The truck on the deck of the lowbed is the H109 and she blew a front diff while pushing the lowbed with a log loader on it. Was easier to just haul the truck back to the shop after the move than go to all the trouble of pulling axles and driveshafts

This was the old H97, A 1956 HD Hayes. When new she was loaded onto a rail flatcar and hauled down the the NitNat logging operation. There was already three other new HD's hauling out there H96 H98 and H99.There she would haul from the bush down to the Railroad Re-Load where the loads were lifted off the trucks and swung onto rail cars for the long journey all the way to Camp A on the Alberni Canal. There was no road from the NitNat to Franklin River Camp because Franklin was still all rail logging. We all drove these when we started out driving because the BIG trucks were all driven by the senior drivers. H97 would go on logging for a number more years, until she was eventually converted into a sand truck. It would be how she met her end. Was in an accident while sanding in Sarita. Going up the mountain and she slid over the bank backwards with a full load of sand.

Nice photo, any idea what the shack was behind the H-97? I see a sign on it too.
BTW, an ashtray like that almost makes a guy want to start smoking...

Looks like the trailer reload had some problems loading trailers . Hence the cab guards on the side of the water tank ?

Callingtheshop, Was the Powersaw Shop. This was still when Edd Jenson and Aubrey?? were in there Don't remember if Wally Mann was in there at that time with them or not. But the building was moved to make room for the new marshalling yard when Sarita was spilt away in late 1975. The building was dragged over to where the old car sheds were across the bridge in front of the office. The contractors would use it to store stuff in. MUCH later it would become the Cameron Division winter show marshalling yard While the contractors were in that area Henry Bergman bought the two Trucks from Griffiths.. The H98 and the H56. They were both parted out and cut up there. Was a shame because both those trucks were still OK. The H56 had been converted to a chunk truck. Remember, They installed two bunks on it and left the water tank on also. Made her very unstable with any long chunks. She did not last long before being surplused Then parted out

Would be because every driver had his own ideas as to what he wanted his bumper to look like. It was just something different drivers did back then Kim.. Gave each truck "Identity"

Yes your right Steve.
On left side of hood I have seen drivers name. On #H443 "Ironriver Billy" and #H437 "Jimmy 2 Loads" Does anyone know the drivers?

#H435 shortly after it was delivered. Look how thin saddle irontubes are - allmost like on a small logging truck. Later on they were changed to a heavier construction. Sorry I can't flip the image 90 degrees
