HD Mech. Was a very sad thing. I went onto the H17 when she came in new and the 229 went to another driver . Then another and in pretty short order she ended up being cut up by Budget Steel in the Sarita Shop Yard along with a lot of other equipment. I had made a deal with the scrap guys to save at least the cab Next day early in the morning before they got there I had the cash for them and when I saw that they had run their loader fork right through the cab and destroyed it!!! Man was I Pi##ed off. I took the H17 and went over and backed into their fully loaded highway trailer, Loaded with scrap equipment and knocked it right off the landing gear... Now they were Pee'd off. Seems they had to bring another trailer all the way from Nanaimo and reload the entire thing onto it HHMM wonder what happened there???? LOL, Then knew but couldn't prove anything. So that was another sad ending.

It wasn't too bad petepilot, It was all good.. It happened from time to time to have a truck go over. There was a day out there that we had three trucks on their side within a couple hour period. Two of them were the smaller HD trucks and the third one was just like the H229 above. Was a Friday afternoon. H102 (Harry Cross) at the Bamfield Cutoff, down in Sarita..Too fast on corner The H210 (Terry Haugen)on BR 247 bad lean in road and the H198 (Jack Cote) right in Camp B yard, Drove off the road.. Today it would be distracted driving, because he was leaning out the drivers door window giving a couple other drivers the bird.. Man he sure showed them ,didn't he?

Aaww, that’s too bad HDX, would have been a nice piece to have. I guess there is a reason that some people are scrappies though. Just metal to them.

IMG_0018.JPG IMG_0034.JPGThis was one of Cameron Divisions trucks A 1974 HDX PreLoad H89.. There was a new shop foreman arrived at Cameron and he decided that there was too many trucks and so he surplused two of them H88 and H89. Walter Miles ,down at Shawnigan Division snapped up the H89 and converted it to a Conventional truck. Eventually she was sold off and this is what she looked like a couple years ago. She still sports her original unit number H89. Original driver when she was new was Jim Miner

IMG_4300.jpg IMG_4299.jpg H88 Taken a couple months ago. When she was first surplused along with H89, She was sent to Ritchie Bros over in Vancouver and sold to a Port Alberni Contractor. They later resold her to another contractor and this is her now. Usual cab decay and such but for the most part still intact

IMG_0033.JPG IMG_0109.JPG H232 was a 1986 P16 Glider truck. Cameron Division needed two more trucks to replace a few older ones and decided to try the Glider trucks This PreLoad and a P16 Conventional truck arrived. H234 was the conventional truck...Al Horton got the H232 had the right up till he retired in 1989. Then she was sold to a contractor in Alberni here.. She would be destroyed in a bad accident. As for H234 She would be surplused and sold to Western Forest up on the north island. She is still up there

IMG_0110.JPG A line of some of the Cameron Trucks. First one is H232 then H91 then H25 and finally the H234. The H90 and H91 both sister trucks to the H88 and H89 would be sold to Hayes Forest and both cut up in the Franklin Shop yard. The H25 pictured here was a 850 KW PreLoad truck. Not a popular style preload compared to the Hayes style. Had to get out of the truck to load the trailer

IMG_0104.JPG IMG_0115.JPG The H25 was parked because nobody wanted to drive her . the driver that was on her passed away and she was put to bed. when the engine in H17 was getting redone, I asked if they would throw a set of batteries in her and i took her for a while. Went out one saturday and steam cleaned her then went back out sunday with the spray gun and hooked up a air regulator and filter to the air system and did some fine tuning. This is how it turned out. then loading the trailer for work next morning
