Hi, I "inherited" a 862 with a manual transmission and it appears the manual shifter in the cab has gone bad. This unit might have been converted or retrofitted to a manual analog shifter since there is no control box between the cab and the transmission, or this is a really early serial number unit. The shifter looks to be a rotary switch (jd part #AT105927 no longer available) and it is connected directly to the transmission solenoids. Anybody know if the information below is correct as far as gear/solenoid sequence? Anybody succefully repaired these shifters?862.PNG

Looks just like diagram for our 762A scraper. Ours has a brainbox behind the seat with a switch to go from manual transmission control to automatic. Ours quit working on a pond project 3years ago - we sent everything from the controller back to the solenoid plug in to an electronic repair shop in Atlanta who said they had experience repairing these. After 6 weeks before getting it back it still wouldnt work. Found another outfit out west with claim they could repair it - sent it all to them. After 3 weeks we got it back - now we do have automatic transmission control but no manual control. As you have found out, mother deere doesn't have parts or really want to maintain these machines anymore. We still use this machine but bought an older mechanical shift 762 which our employees prefer to the newer machine. If you want I will look for the contact info and get it to you.
